Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga says that according to Friday’s data, Lithuania does not meet one of the criteria approved by the government when it would be possible to revoke the quarantine, but recalls that these are recommendations.

According to him, Lithuania currently does not meet just one of the four criteria: that at least 90 percent. The new cases of coronavirus detected during the week would be related to localized and controlled outbreaks: according to the minister, the figure was 95.1% a week ago and 85.19% on Friday.

“It is the only criterion that has deteriorated in a week,” Veryga said at a press conference on Monday.

“We are aware that there are many circumstances related to the spread of the infection, and some of them can be controlled by Lithuania itself, some of them are completely independent of us,” added the minister.

According to him, these criteria are necessary in the first place to be clear if the situation in Lithuania is improving.

“The decisions may be such that even if all those criteria are not met, quarantine can be waived. And if there were unfavorable international circumstances, even if those criteria were met, the quarantine could theoretically continue,” said the minister.

The government approved the epidemiological criteria for quarantine removal proposed by the Ministry of Health (SAM) in a protocol decision last Wednesday. According to them, the total incidence of coronavirus is 100,000. the population should not increase in the last 14 days from the date of approval of the criteria.

May 22 According to data, this indicator in Lithuania amounted to 5.9 cases per 100,000. population, and May 29. data, was 5.3 cases per 100,000. population.

The second criterion is at least 90%. New cases of coronavirus detected during the week are related to localized and controlled outbreaks, to which Lithuania does not currently respond.

The third criterion is that the average number of new positive coronavirus cases per week does not exceed 0.5% compared to all studies. May 22 This figure stood at 0.22%, currently on May 29. – 0.16%

The fourth criterion is a maximum of five import cases per week. There have been four such cases in the past two weeks.
