It’s hard even when the windows are closed

Milda Pivoriutė, a sociologist who lived in Smiltyne a couple of years ago, wrote about the annoying night noise on a social media account.

After a sleepless night, the woman exploded: “I wonder if anyone will respond to the need of the population not to experience the vibration and noise that makes them climb walls at least at night. And when I called the port at night, he asked unsatisfactorily, and how do you know he’s exceeding the rules? “

15 minutes M. Pivoriutė said that it is difficult to fish at night even when all the windows are closed. He tried to measure the sound level with a noise meter on the phones for 3 hours a night. The device showed 53 decibels. According to current legislation, the level of rabbits in bedrooms at night could not exceed 45 decibels.

“We obtained this data after measuring the noise in the phone application. Probably with a professional device it would show even more. And it is not only noise, it is also vibration, as if it were passing through the body,” said the interlocutor.

Working on a warm Thursday night didn’t stop for an hour.

Correspondence – ineffective

Residents of sparsely populated Smiltyne say no noise was heard for a few nights this spring. Now that the nights are warm and there is no wind, the noise problem has become even more pressing.

“It just came to our knowledge then. However, such intensive excavation should not be done at night,” said Snieguolė Kerpienė.

The woman said she had been receiving responses from the Klaipeda State Port Authority for some time. There were no subsequent reactions to his comments.

We don’t say anything about work during the day. However, such intensive excavation should not be done at night.

Inga Dailidienė, the old woman from Smiltynė, said the obnoxious residents also turned to the Danish company Rohde Nielsen, which owns the excavator. They have responded that they have a work permit and therefore work. Most institutions that receive complaints are not even quick to acknowledge receipt of the letter.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Those who came to rest are disappointed, the neighbors are tired,” explained the old man.

The Smiltyn on settlement community on the Curonian Spit is small. There are quite a few people in academia here. They claim that after a noisy night the day becomes difficult to work, an annoying headache.
