Ignas Sargiūnas moved to the NCAA in 2018, when he left Kaunas and crossed the Žalgiris system with the University of Georgia. After the failed first season, the Lithuanian decided to switch teams and made an agreement with the Colorado State Rams team.
The NCAA “red jersey” rule restricts these transitions, so I. Sargiūnas had to go through the entire 2019-2020 period. season.
The 193cm long defender missed his debut with the new team, and journalist Kevin Lytle, referring to manager Nick Medved, said the 21-year-old Lithuanian had decided to end his career.

He represented Lithuanian national teams of all ages and won medals. With the U16 team, he became the European runner-up in 2015, wearing the U17 team jersey, I. Sargiūnas won the bronze medal of the world championship in 2016. That same summer he was proclaimed European champion with the U18 team and a year later, already in his age group, he took bronze.
