SAM encourages people at risk to receive a booster dose 180 days after the second dose and to maintain immunity to COVID-19.

Currently, 23,353 people in the country have already had the opportunity to receive the third dose of the vaccine.

The decision to start vaccination with the booster dose of COVID-19 was made by the Council of Independent Experts in early September on the basis of studies conducted by VUL SK.

Three months after vaccination, data from nearly 4,000 treatment workers who received two doses of the vaccine were analyzed.

A second antibody test was performed on 3,000 treatment workers 6 months after full vaccination. Nursing and nursing home residents were also serologically tested 5 to 6 months after vaccination.

An analysis of the studies showed that there was a significant reduction in antibodies 6 months after the second dose of the vaccine. All studies have shown that in people over the age of 65, antibody levels in the body become critically low after six months and do not provide sufficient protection against COVID-19.

A study in Israel showed that at least 12 days after the third dose of Comirnaty (manufactured by BionTech and Pfizer), the risk of getting Delta was reduced by 11.3 times compared to people who did not receive the third dose.
