A squeal about the new quarantine restrictions – such a light mess

“It’s such a light mess, the restrictions are changing, you see, there hasn’t been a day … I don’t think anyone needs chaos, and the chaos is big enough these days,” said S. Skvernelis to BNS on Monday.

According to him, the government quarantine decree approved on Sunday is illegal.

“There are procedures to change the quarantine conditions; there must be a presentation from the Minister of Health, and there was not. The government cannot impose the quarantine or change its conditions without providing it,” the former prime minister said.

The government tightened the quarantine on Sunday, but on Monday clarified some of its terms regarding trade, movement restrictions, outdoor gatherings, as well as legal, beauty and accommodation services.

At Monday’s meeting, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys presented a proposal for the extension of the quarantine. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė admitted that on Sunday the government’s decision was taken without following the procedures according to which such presentation is mandatory.

Skvernel, however, acknowledged that the government resolution adopted Monday was “more realistic.”

“I think today’s version is fundamentally different from yesterday’s. I think it’s more real,” S. Skvernelis said.

According to the former prime minister, considering the restrictions on movement during the Easter weekend, the restrictions imposed by the new government on travel between municipalities would be difficult to implement.

“Those three days were very difficult for the entire system and not just for the police. Here, if you do it daily for three weeks, it is not possible ”, said a member of the Seimas.

According to him, the new government could also have made a different decision about the work of hairdressers.

“The same hairdressers, between the first and the second quarantine, proved to be safe there. People with masks work, clients with masks, contact is kept to a minimum, clients do not mix with each other, there are hours to write, it is difficult to say who should do it now, ”said the former prime minister.

He also said he expected to see a coronavirus control plan at the first government meeting.

“It just came to our notice then. We expected him to show up at the first meeting right away,” S. Skvernelis commented.

The government’s decision will close most stores, excluding grocery stores and pharmacies, starting Wednesday, prevent people from leaving home without good reason, and prevent contact services from lasting more than 15 minutes.

Residents cannot leave their municipality for very important reasons, and only family members or two people from different families can walk in public places.

The quarantine in Lithuania is valid until January 31.
