On the weekend, when the air temperature reached 30 ° C and the water temperature reached 21 ° C, the vacationers went to the beach. According to rescuers, many people have not been there this summer season and people resting on the beaches have not even thought about the health risks or keeping a safe distance.
“We had a large flow of people over the weekend, it was impossible to maintain a safe distance. We tentatively counted about half a million vacationers on the beach, so how far can we talk? The rescuers couldn’t even pass the beach in land transport, they had to patrol from the water, “said Jonas Pirožnikas, head of the Palanga Rescue Service.
There was no shortage of work
The resort’s beach is patrolled daily by lifeguards who not only watch over vacationers, but also provide first aid.
“Due to the large number of people, the rescuers walked, observed the children, warned the drunkards and alcohol users. Although the ban on drinking alcohol on the beach came into effect at the beginning of this year, people do not pay attention to it, ”said J.Pirožnikas.
According to the rescue chief, there were also incidents this weekend. I had to rescue a man from a women’s beach that turned out to be 2.5 per thousand drunk.
“We took a man off the women’s beach, clothed and drunk. He went to the women’s beach to see the naked women. I sailed with a jet ski, took her by the hand and pulled her out, ”said J.Pirožnikas.
In addition, 12 children disappeared on the beach over the weekend, and a woman was unconsciously handed over to doctors by rescuers, presumably she may have received heat or heatstroke.
Rescuers remember that to avoid the risk of the sun or heat, those who spend time on the beach should not forget to drink plenty of fluids, wear hats and sunscreen.
