During yesterday 766 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Lithuania. 208 cases were confirmed in Vilnius, 170 – Klaipėda, 166 – Kaunas, 112 – Šiauliai, 60 – Telšiai, 28 – Panevėžys, 9 – Marijampolė, 7 – Tauragė, 4 – Alytus, 2 – Utena.

Of the 766 cases, 468 cases were not investigated. Of the 298 cases investigated yesterday, the largest outbreaks were related to VšĮ Plungės r. sav. hospital outbreak, 17 cases were confirmed. Nine confirmed cases are related to the Kurš delnai hospital outbreak. There are also 9 cases, with the Klaipeda Republican Hospital outbreak.

One death case was recorded in Kaunas County, the person belonged to the age group 60-70 years and had other diseases. During the epidemiological diagnosis of the outbreak, it was established that the case is related to the outbreak of the Department of Neurosurgery of the Kaunas Clinics of LSMU.

Today a report was received that on October 16. A Telšiai County resident in the 50-60 age group died. The person had other illnesses. He could have hired the family.

In addition, one death for other reasons was recorded in Vilnius County. The person belonged to the age group of 50 to 60 years.

NVSC reports that a total of 10,949 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Lithuania, 6,600 people are still ill and 4,166 have recovered.

In hospitals, 322 people are treated for COVID-19, 31 of them in resuscitation

322 people are being treated for COVID-19 in Lithuanian hospitals, 31 of them in resuscitation, the Health Ministry announced on Monday.

According to her, 119 patients are being treated with oxygen masks and another 15 are undergoing artificial lung ventilation.

Earlier Monday, it was announced that the Ministry of Health (SAM) intended to distribute a report on new coronavirus cases at a later date to provide accurate information to the public.

“It just came to our notice then. You see, it’s one thing to count 200 cases, it’s another thing to count when the number is higher. As the statistics from the last few days show, the number is really growing, and in order not to mislead the public, just we are waiting, it is currently being calculated and evaluated, ”said SAM representative Neringa Mikėnaitė on BNS on Monday.

On Sunday, the National Center for Public Health reported 415 new cases of coronavirus, but later clarified that the number of new infections reached 603.

SAM explained the situation on Sunday as understaffing and overwork.
