Retail network Maxima reports that 9 more workers recovered from the coronavirus last day, but 11 new cases of COVID-19 infection were also identified. On Tuesday, November 17, the coronavirus was detected in employees of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Alytus, Marijampolė, Nida and Garliava. A complete disinfection has been carried out in shops and other units where workers infected by COVID-19 have worked.
“We are happy that 9 more employees overcame the coronavirus and recovered last day, but the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the country does not bypass our employees. An additional 11 workers were diagnosed with coronavirus yesterday. In total, COVID-19 currently has 110 employees – that’s just 0.8 percent of all Maxima employees.
Of course, we would like to see fewer cases of COVID-19 infection among our employees, but considering the general epidemiological situation in Lithuania, we are pleased to be in control of the situation and so far we are successfully preventing the spread of the coronavirus within the company. We work closely with the National Center for Public Health and follow their recommendations, ”says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department at the Maxima retail chain.
Retail chain Maxima has been informing the public about all cases of workers infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recently it was reported that a woman who works at Alytus is ill. The COVID-19 infection case was diagnosed at Maxima XX, Alytus, Santaikos str. 34G, employees. The last time he was at his workplace was on November 11. No close contacts were found.
Stores and other premises where workers infected with COVID-19 worked have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and buyers of the Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit these stores.
“Today, we meet extremely strict hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are informed of additional recommendations for to avoid direct contact between them and to maintain a safe distance. We also encourage our employees to carry out COVID-19 detection tests for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, ”says E. Dapkienė.
Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizer liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.
Currently, the flow of shoppers entering the stores is limited in Lithuania. Buyers are asked to keep a safe distance of 2 meters in stores, not to forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance. All Maxima stores have free access to a protective mask.
A total of 170 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 60 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,478 employees of the Maxima retail chain have been investigated for COVID-19. There are currently 76 pending employee test responses.
