Two cases of COVID-19 – for employees of different warehouses

On Monday, the National Center for Public Health reported a case of coronavirus to Maxima employees who worked in a warehouse on Kirtimų street in Vilnius.

“We would like to clarify that the sick employee works in one of the logistics warehouses on Kirtimų Street, not in the Maxima base, as announced on Monday. The employee works in a vegetable store and has no contact with buyers. We are prepared for such situations and act in accordance with the action plan agreed with the responsible authorities. Employees of Maxima stores and warehouses must disinfect their hands regularly. They have all the necessary guarantees. All contact surfaces must be disinfected when every two hours, and workers must maintain a safe distance from each other. As a result, eight other warehouse workers with close contact will have to isolate themselves for 14 days and monitor health. If symptoms occur, a COVID-19 test will be performed. ”Says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of Maxima’s Department of Communications and Corporate Affairs.

The investigation was carried out on July 5 for a security guard who worked at another logistics warehouse on Kirtimų Street.

“The security guard worked his shift on July 3. As far as we know, on July 4, it ended well after finishing the job. However, on the morning of July 5, the house felt an elevated temperature. This is suspected because a person close to our employee works at a company where two cases of COVID-19 were confirmed a few days ago. We are pleased that the situation was viewed responsibly and our employee immediately went to verify. A positive response was received on July 7, ”says E. Dapkienė.

According to the sales network representative, while awaiting the results of the coronavirus test on July 7, it was revealed that the self-isolated security guard had close contact with a colleague. He was immediately informed and will have to isolate himself. Personal contacts have been transferred to the National Center for Public Health. The authorities are also informed of the identified case of coronavirus in accordance with all the regulations and the Public Health Center is regularly consulted on the follow-up. The security post on Kirtimų Street was immediately disinfected.

Lithuanian retail chain Maxima has insured its current and future employees with special coronavirus insurance. Current and new Maxima employees will receive benefits in the event of COVID-19 infection and hospital treatment.
