According to the news portal delfi.lt, the National Center for Public Health will begin the investigation on Sunday morning. According to Aurina Veryga representative, Lina Bušinskaitė, this will be a large-scale epidemiological study.

Austina Vžesniauskaitė, representative of the National Center for Public Health, said that the NVSC would evaluate this particular case, as well as all others, and urged all those who had close contact with the parliamentarian to follow the general recommendations to avoid contact by the moment.

“The specialists will find out who was contacted, for how long, what the risks of the contact were, and in that case, people will probably be isolated. And the people themselves, if they think they have had a lot of contact, they should isolate themselves. But the specialists will still have to contact us, ”he told BNS.

Marius Žiūkas, acting chancellor of the Seimas, says that the Chancellery has been informed about this case and that it is planned to disinfect the Parliament facilities on Monday. Information from the NVSC on mandatory isolation for politicians and foreign ministry staff will also be awaited.

“There is a mandatory disinfection of the facilities, as well as (to be determined – BNS) the contacts that have been in communication with a member of the Seimas, both employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the Seimas. I think the member of the Seimas himself could better say the contacts. Since the meetings do not take place next week, we will call for services on Monday. And anyway, the day before the meeting, we always sanitize the meeting room, ”he said.

“I received a response. My coronavirus test is positive,” V. Simulikas reported on Facebook on Saturday.

He also said that he did not feel any symptoms of the virus.

BNS has not been able to contact V. Simulikas himself so far.

Agnė Širinskienė, a colleague of V. Simulikas in the “peasant” faction, confirmed that the parliamentarian attended the Seimas session on Tuesday and communicated with both her and other colleagues, but says she still does not see the need to isolate her.

“I was in the boardroom, yes. Due to the clear focus of the infection, I assume that the National Center for Public Health will contact close contacts and ask them to isolate me (…), I really did not interact with him for fifteen minutes, it was a “good day, how are you “. Considering there were masks … but if I get other recommendations, then of course I’ll have to follow them, ”he said.

A. Širinskienė also says that he does not see the need to cancel plans to elect party representatives on election night together to await the results.

On his account, V. Simulikas shared a photo of a meeting in the Government with Foreign Minister Algirdas Stončaitis this week, in which it can be seen that politicians sitting close to each other do not wear masks. Later, V. Simulikas also wrote about the fever and the fact that he had a coronavirus test on Thursday.
