Submitted such a statement to the Central Election Commission on Tuesday, commission chair Laura Matjošaitytė approved the SNB.
“After 4 pm A statement was received from the Seimas member A. Guoga on the resignation of a Seimas member from the Seimas Member A. Guoga declares his resignation from the position of Seimas member, presents the statement with determination and free agency, ”L. Matjošaitytė told BNS.
According to the head of the CCA, A. Guoga requests the revocation of his mandate as of January 14, requesting to convene a meeting of the commission during which he is ready to read the request for the termination of his mandate.
A. Guoga was elected to the Seimas with the opposition Labor Party.
He announced on Facebook that he was resigning from the mandate without seeing the possibility of fulfilling the electoral promises.
“People elected me to the Seimas with the Labor Party list. I gained the highest trust of the people. I have great respect and appreciation for him. I am leaving first because I don’t want to lead these people by the nose. I feel a great responsibility towards them, but at the same time I see that it is impossible to assure with the Labor Party what was said to the people before the elections, ”writes A. Guoga.
He also hinted at a confrontation with the party’s chairman, Viktor Uspaskich.
“There are really decent, smart and energetic people in the Labor Party. Today, however, they have all become hostages of one person. Fear and adaptability prevent them from being released. I don’t want to be the person that the president of the party, the council, the ethics commissions pay so much attention to the fact that I have a different opinion than the president of the party, ”writes A. Guoga.
He highlighted his faith in the facts and criticized the statements of the Labor Party leader on vaccines and healing water.
Early Tuesday, Guoga also asked Uspaskich to apologize for his insulting comments against sexual minorities or to expel him from the Labor Party.
The Labor leader posted a live video on Facebook on Sunday, denouncing LGBT people as “pedicures” and “perverts.” Following these statements, the leader of the Liberal Group in the European Parliament apologized to the president of the Labor Party, V. Uspaskich, and warned that the MEP could be expelled from this political group.
V. Uspaskich has recently been criticized in Lithuania for making false statements that mineral water can cure the coronavirus. The State Food and Veterinary Service is investigating these statements.
If A. Guoga resigned, the first Artūras Skardžius to remain on the group’s list after the script would enter the Seimas.
