A.Gelažninkas, who won the champion title in Saudi Arabia, became the first Lithuanian to win the Dakar Rally in the “Original by Motul” category, better known as the Dakar “singles” classification.

Having driven without outside help, the driver can now be proud of his victory in an almost difficult category called Dakar.

Immediately after arrival, the athlete interviewed by the rally organizers said that he looked at everything with calm eyes, he did not press the “lower” speed pedal.

“I have nothing to say, I am happy, I was happy until the end. Today I was waiting for the goal because I did not want to run fast. They walked very slowly. Several competitors passed me, but I did not worry at all,” said the athlete, who opened he initially wanted to get into the top three, but won and took first place.

A.Gelažnink’s opportunities exceeded his aspirations: he improved his record in the general classification, and on the winners’ podium he received congratulations not only from his teammates, but also from his beloved wife Emilia. She was the first to express her joy at the man’s victory with hugs and kisses. Emilija also rode her motorcycle with A.Gelažninkas on the Dakar winners’ podium.

Emilija and Arūnas got married in 2018 in Kaunas, St. At the Church of St. George the Martyr. They bounced after a year of friendship. The wife has always supported her husband in the professional battles most important to him. This time is no exception: Emilija Dakare accompanied Arūnas to the title of champion.

Born and raised in Neveronys, Arūnas Gelažninkas, 35, is now 26 as a professional racer.
