A dentist who has been quarantined during quarantine feels resentful: why only the budget ones deserved a € 200 vacation?

Vitold said that he, along with his colleagues, risked his health and well-being by providing him with the necessary dental care during the quarantine. After learning from the media that he could use the 200 euro compensation for a holiday in Lithuania from September 1 to November 30, he was happy and contacted an accommodation establishment in Druskininkai. But the joy was quickly replaced by frustration and pain: Vitold’s license number is not on the lists provided by the Department of Health (SAM).

“We managed to find out the possible reasons with the Head of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation. specialist. It turns out that I work in a private institution that does not have a contract with the State Health Insurance Fund (VLK), that is, I work in a non-budgetary institution. My question is: why do they discriminate against me, despite the fact that I fought the pandemic in the first place, I provided the necessary dental care to Kaunas patients, when the doctors of the budgetary institutions refused to provide it? ”The dentist asked rhetorically.

As a result of such a government decision, he claims to feel cheated and discriminated against. And not only are you alone, there are more similar destinations.

“On the other hand, I thought that perhaps in the private sector these gifts should be attended by the owner of the company, but then you had to say that when presenting the project. Is it not understood why those who work in public institutions should be singled out and privileged? Were those who worked in the private sector less exposed? Furthermore, the private sector is the one that has suffered the most economically ”, Vitold surprised.

15 minutes Upon request, SAM proposed to contact the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, as it is responsible for the implementation of this measure.

Responding to the request, Ligija Kliunkienė, Chief Specialist of the Public Relations Division of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, recalled that the list of health workers who could receive vacation compensation was initially even narrower: it was recently expanded. The ministry, he said, worked with municipalities and SAM to expand the list so that all healthcare workers who worked during the quarantine to combat the coronavirus could benefit.

“The circle of beneficiaries of vacation compensation has expanded, for example, to include unlicensed medical personnel who have been battling the pandemic. The vacation compensation list also includes public sector dentists, dental specialists, and oral care professionals who provided necessary services during the quarantine. This list was compiled by SAM according to information from the information system “Sveidra” “, said L. Kliunkienė.

He recalled that medical professionals with a valid license can use tourist services just by going to the place of provision of tourist services with their personal document and license number. Unlicensed medical personnel can use the services after receiving a paper vacation voucher delivered by the municipality through the workplace. This and the identity document must only be presented at the place of provision of tourist services.

“Please note that this measure is not supportive of the medical sector, so we want to thank the doctors for their work during the pandemic and give them the opportunity to take a break in the fall.” At the same time, we want to encourage the tourism business in Lithuania, which has suffered during the quarantine and is still struggling, to receive more income during the non-tourist season.

In general, dentists were prohibited during the quarantine, so only public dentists, dentists and oral health professionals who provided free emergency care during the quarantine were included in the list, ”explained a representative from the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.

According to her, commercial representatives, including companies that provide medical services, have access to almost all means of commercial assistance: interest compensation, rent compensation, soft loans and others. Existing measures have already been revised several times to take into account business needs and specificities: for example, access to rental compensation has been extended to companies whose activities have not only been prohibited but also restricted, access to credit accounts, amounts have increased, etc.
