A coronavirus was detected in two Maxima employees in the Šiauliai region

According to the report, there is constant contact with sick Maxima employees who are now in self-isolation. Representatives of the Maxima retail chain note that they are currently unaware that there are more in Šiauliai, Tilžės str. 225, and in Joniškis, Upytės str. 19, Maxima XX stores would experience specific COVID-19 symptoms. The interiors of both stores are completely sanitized.

“The COVID-19 infection, which is spreading more and more rapidly in the country, has not escaped our two employees in the Šiauliai region, where the incidence is currently one of the highest. Both employees are receiving treatment in home, as well as other Maxima employees who have been in close contact with a colleague infected with COVID-19. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health and, if necessary, we will take the recommended actions, “says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The store administration employee Šiauliai Maxima XX was working for the last time on Friday, October 16. He underwent a COVID-19 test on October 20. There was no close contact with customers or other colleagues who worked at the same Maxima store.

The cashier of the Joniškis Maxima XX store was working for the last time last Saturday, October 17. He underwent a COVID-19 test on October 20. The clerk served customers at the checkout, which was equipped with a protective plexiglass partition. One possible close contact was with two colleagues who are currently self-isolating at home.

The store premises where the COVID-19 infected workers worked were also fully cleaned and disinfected internally.

“Today our stores meet extremely stringent hygiene requirements: carts and baskets and various other surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are also familiar with additional recommendations to avoid direct contacts and keep a safe distance, ”says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizer liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or flu, they are asked to stay home.

“We invite our customers to be vigilant, to keep a safe distance in the stores, not to forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and use free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance,” says E. Dapkienė, Director of the Maxima Communication and Image Department.

In twelve municipalities of the country, where the quarantine will be introduced as of October 26, buyers of Maxima stores will have the opportunity to receive a disposable mask for free. Currently, free face masks are distributed in Raseiniai, where local quarantine is introduced.

A total of 26 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 19 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 773 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently 10 employee test responses are pending.
