The news was announced by the tall man on his Rogue Bogues podcast on Tuesday.

The withdrawal means that Bogutas will not play in the Tokyo Olympics next summer.

Tall is one of Australia’s most famous basketball players of all time, becoming the NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors in that magical 2015-16 season, when the team won 73 times in the regular season and just stumbled 9.

Bogutas has played three Olympics, but has suffered injuries during his career, and in recent seasons has represented native club Sydney Kings.

The 36-year-old athlete revealed that he had recently undergone ankle bone removal surgery, as well as back surgery. This made it possible for the first time in many years to live without pain.

“This is the end of November, I would have made that decision earlier, if it weren’t for the postponement of the Olympics. I was hoping to end my career right after the 2020 Olympics, but that was not destined.

Neither physically nor psychologically I can bear 2021 with such a body. You could do it with a lot of pain relievers and a psychological burden, but it’s just not worth it.

I am beginning to appreciate my health very much, the health that will be when I am 40, 45 or 50 years old. Some people may say it’s only six months of training, but I’m at a point where I just can’t do it, “explained Bogutas in his decision.
