Utena County Police said a statement had been received from a 21-year-old man.

He claimed that he was injured on Monday, around 1:50 pm, in a shopping center on J. Basanavičiaus Street, performing security and passport control duties.

“There was a mess, it is suspected that the man hit the shoulder of the security guard with his hand, the buyer was offended when they asked for a passport of opportunity,” Violeta Ginaitienė, a representative of the Utena County Police, told BNS.

The 22-year-old man is suspected of causing physical pain to the security guard.

A pre-trial investigation into the induction of physical pain was launched and the suspect was detained and placed in the Utena County Police Chief’s Commissariat Long-Term Detention Facility.

After the number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital exceeded the agreed limit of 300, the Cabinet of Ministers decided in August to ban passport-free access to major shopping and entertainment centers, cafes, hair salons and other venues where provide essential services, effective Monday, September 13.
