After the introduction of the new order, the medicines didn’t have to cost Alvydas anything, but they became more expensive 13 times

Alvydas, a resident of the Molėtai district, is happy with the summer: there is a lot of work on the farm and, if not distress, it would happen from morning to night. But her mood was spoiled by the news she learned when she went to the pharmacy to take medicine on a daily basis.

“I used to pay 14 euros for 3 months. And now for one you have to pay about 60, something close. Milagros,” Alvydas told LNK news.

Alvydas calls the miracle a new reimbursable drug reimbursement system, which went into effect on July 1. The necessary medicines for Alvyde were reimbursed, only a supplement of about 5 euros had to be paid. After July 1, his premiums, starting at age 75, were abolished. This means that the necessary medications did not have to cost anything. But in the pharmacy it turned out that you will have to pay. And not 5, but 60 euros.

Alvyd’s medications have been removed from the reimbursement list. The man does not hide his pain: for five years, these drugs made life easier.

“We just realized that the losses would not have to be paid.” He removed this drug from the reimbursement list and because it was expensive it covered everything. Those bonuses are other drugs. This is my version ”, considered Alvydas.

The Ministry of Health reports that 24 names of drugs have been removed from the list because manufacturers have not reduced the price of drugs and have not complied with legal requirements. But there were other drugs left. Changes to the list of reimbursable medications are seen by the patient representative as a big bad. It is changed even 4 times a year.

“A person is a personal matter, their health is in their own hands, so they can choose that medicine and perhaps it is better to pay that higher premium and take the correct medicine than to change it all the time,” said Vida Augustinienė, president of the Lithuanian Patient Council. .

The Minister of Health reassures: all changes are said to benefit patients.

“We also hear that people who come to buy medicine cannot find it, are told to go or go to another city, or wait until they arrive. This, if a person needs it quickly, again causes dissatisfaction. So we really try to see what we can do to make it more convenient for patients. But in any case, the active substances are indelible, “said Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga.

Alvydas says he spends about 90 euros a month on drugs. Whether to buy more expensive drugs or seek reimbursements, you don’t know. They say that now it is not easy to go from the town and the district to the central polyclinic; you don’t know how much longer you’ll have to wait in line for the heart doctor. You will probably buy the darling because you want to enjoy the summer.

How many people will really feel the benefits of the abolished premiums is not available.

“I say: you give one hand and the other is thrown to one side and I think practically a small part of those people will benefit.” And, if you do use them, they’re just the cheapest drugs and maybe not necessarily right for that particular person, “said V. Augustienė.

The ministry reports that the new list of reimbursable medicines will save about 850 thousand euros.
