The leading team went ahead on the eve of the competition, when they won the so-called “pole”. The fastest was Ralph Aron, who managed to overcome the lap in just over 1 minute. 8 sec.
On the main day of the race, Saturday, the team got together and tried not to make any mistakes at all. And it seemed to work, even if there were some problems, they went almost unnoticed. They overcame the fastest lap of the day with cold faces, in 1 minute. 9.553 sec.
The fight for the second and third fastest positions seemed much more interesting. In the middle of the race, behind the leading team were the teams of Ramūnas Čapkauskas, Arūnas Strumskis, Mindaugas Platūkis and Linas Skardžiukas “Vytautas Gazuotas”.
R. Čapkauskas was interviewed and was glad he was doing really well, but the car’s brake pads were worn. After replacing them, he promised to get behind the wheel of a Porsche and try to reduce the distance to the leading team.
Still, that plan didn’t burn. Porsche’s brakes unexpectedly locked when the car’s brake pads were replaced and as soon as it left the technical area. The car crashed into the fences, then spun around its axis, blocking the path for other athletes. The car’s cooling system was damaged, but fortunately, more serious incidents were avoided.
However, the athlete had to return to the technical zone for repairs, which resulted in Team Noker Racing with Kęstutis Stasionis, Sten Piirimagi, Egidijus Valeiša and Justas Jonušis taking the won position. The team ran a factory TCR sports car with a two-liter engine.
The Porsche Club by LG OLED team with Mantas Janavičius, Marius Bartkus, Arūnas Tumas and Aurelijus Rusteika took third place after the failure of R. Čapkauskas’ team. However, thirdly, this team did not want to be satisfied and tried in every possible way to bridge the gap of the team that was ahead with a TCR car.
Finally, less than 50 laps before the end of the race, Porsche managed to overtake and overtake the TCR driving team.
