In one of the event spaces, in the Juozas Gruodis section of the Kaunas City Museum (Salako str. 18), from 3 p.m. at 9 p.m. echoes of experimental music echoes.
Live performances by artists Patri Židelevičius and Sovijus, as well as performances by Shapoka and Svengãlik, members of the Ghia music group, await participants in the surroundings of the building designed by the authentic and famous inter-war architect F. Vizbaras and the surrounding landscape.
“Experimental electronic music in the home of the most famous Lithuanian composer of all time may seem like a paradoxical phenomenon. However, the understanding of music technology and composition is changing. It is a step by which we seek to open this section of the museum to an audience that has not yet discovered it and show it in an unusual context; shed light on the fact that electronic music is not the same as club music, because it can be academic, sophisticated and not inferior to the work of composers in terms of quality standards, ”says Karolis Venclauskas, one of the organizers of the event, Kaunas City Museum M. and K. Petrauskas Department.
3pm – 5pm Gros Svengãlik is the founder and director of the cultural bar Godo, one of the co-authors and content creators of the Bordless network, which promotes interesting and broad-spectrum music. The selection of his works is always eclectic, varying between dancing and extensive experimentation in clubs.
P. Židelevičius 5–6 p.m. will perform ambient music with a cello.
His music combines the melodies of this classic instrument, digital sounds, passages extracted by analog synthesizers and field recordings. Patrio’s live performances are sometimes reminiscent of human mini-band solos, in which improvised strings converge into coherent compositions.
6 pm-8pm Shapoka will be the magician of the experimental music association Ghia, an event organizer who sometimes writes for cultural publications. presented the first soundtrack for a performance with dir. Artūras Areima, vocalist Skaidra Jančaite and dance troupe Aura. Shapoka is characterized by sophisticated intellectual music, from contemporary classics or academic experiments to electronic noise.
The Ramūnas Peršonis (electronic) and Mindaugas Suchockas (flute, voice) duo “Sovijus” will perform from 8 pm – 9 pm. Sovijus has soundscapes that open wide sound spaces. His music successfully combines experimental, ethnic, ambient and noise music.
During the event, excursions will also be organized, in which the educators of the museum will invite to visit the house of the famous composer, pedagogue, director and founder of the Lithuanian Conservatory Juozas Gruodis.
Another venue for the event is the Folk Music Department of the Kaunas City Museum (L. Zamenhofo St. 12), where the Folkas Café is located in the courtyard, and you will be invited to listen to the sounds of world music. Here from 7 p.m. at 10 p.m. Žilvinas “Jay” Švarplys, a world music, ethnic and folk music promoter, event organizer, will present his long-term music collection and long-term knowledge of this scene, featuring creators, musicians and performers from various corners of the world from around the world under the banner of GM Gyvai.
At the intersection of Vilnius and L. Zamenhofo streets, educators from the National Department of Music will also invite you to become involved in modern knowledge of folk music by trying out the “DJ Folk” music box. It is an interactive object on the surface from which it is possible to create different variations of well-known Lithuanian folk works by placing special blocks.
Every year Street Music Day brings together hundreds of artists in Lithuanian and foreign cities. The celebration is open to everyone, regardless of professionalism or musical style.
The tradition of celebrating Street Music Day began in 2007, when the author of the idea, the musician Andrius Mamontovas, sent an email to his friends inviting them to play on the streets of the capital. Since then, the idea has become popular, becoming not only an international music festival, but also an international festival. tradition. GMD takes place in many cities not only in Lithuania, but also abroad: Latvia, Armenia, Georgia, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Ireland. Lithuanian communities organized a similar event in Copenhagen, Sicily, Paris, Punsk, Los Angeles, Tallinn, York, Nottingham, Barnsley, Connecticut, Bergen, Innsbruck, and London.
