The Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, was guided by the right, if necessary, to make the decision to order the use of masks at points of sale and public transport. Said resolution will be adopted by the Government on Thursday.
Amendments approved at the cabinet meeting. meter. February 26 in the Government Resolution adopted on the State Emergency Declaration.
The amendments stipulate, among other things, that the Chief of Emergency Operations has been empowered to establish additional requirements for the use of protective equipment that covers the nose and mouth.
The new wording of the Government Resolution allows the Minister of Health, if necessary, to make an order promptly, stipulating that masks must be used in public transport, points of sale and events.
July 8 At the government meeting, it was claimed that an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases had been observed since the first decisions were made to increase opportunities for people to travel abroad. In view of the deterioration of the morbidity situation in other countries and to avoid a new outbreak of COVID-19, it is appropriate to evaluate the possibility of regulating the use of nasal and oral protection equipment at points of sale, events and public transport, that is to say. In areas where there is constant contact between individuals and favorable conditions have been created for the spread of the disease, Rita Tamaunien, Minister of the Interior, who is also the head of the Government’s Emergency Commission, presented the draft resolution at the meeting of the government.
According to her, after the discussion, it was concluded that the most efficient and flexible way to establish such additional requirements are the decisions of the Emergency Operations Manager at the state level.
In accordance with the decisions of the Commander of Emergency Operations, the draft Primus Resolution will create preconditions for the proper regulation of the use of nose and mouth protection measures at points of sale, events and public transport, the Prime Minister.
According to Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, such a decision needs to be made so that the chief of emergency operations can quickly make a decision on additional restrictive measures. We will drag that these measures will not be necessary or, if necessary, only for a very limited time, says the Prime Minister.
Earlier Thursday, S. Skvernel spoke on his Facebook account about possible solutions to the mandatory reversal of the mask-wearing rule: the Ministry of Health is tasked with setting specific criteria for one infected person per 100,000 residents. Once this has been accomplished, a mechanism will be established to consider and establish a mandatory mask for the two in certain areas, such as supermarkets, public transportation, and other places.
At the time, A. Veryga told radio on Thursday that there was no need to wear a mandatory face mask again in certain places. At the same time, he emphasized that although there is no such need at the moment, it can happen next week or next month.
