Hegelmann Transport already has 19 cases of coronavirus

An additional 170 coronavirus tests were performed at Hegelmann Transporte’s transport services company. The team began investigating when it became clear that up to 18 Uzbeks who came to work for this company had this infection. At a press conference called by the Municipality of Kaunas, it was announced that another Hegelmann Transporte employee had been diagnosed with coronavirus. Therefore, there are a total of 19 patients in this approach.

Among those expected to be investigated are approximately fifty Ukrainians who work as long-distance drivers at the company.

Paulius Keras, head of the Kaunas City Municipality Emergency Operations Center, announced a new case and said it was not yet final data.

He called today’s preliminary positive case. In addition, dozens of Hegelmann Transporte employees will be investigated, he said.

Keras said the city had contacted police in response to the situation. These representatives promised help to guarantee the self-isolation of the people, who must comply so that they do not move around the city.

“As far as I know, the coronavirus has spread to one of the company’s bases,” said the head of the Emergency Operations Center. He mentioned that disinfection is still ongoing in the company.

While waiting for the results on Wednesday, P. Keras told the portal kauno.diena.lt that the main task for today is to fully manage the situation in the local coronavirus outbreak.

Today, the Mayor of Kaunas, Visvaldas Matijošaitis, addressed the Head of State Emergency Operations, Minister of Health, Aurelijus Verygas, with a proposal to draft a legal act that would provide mandatory testing of third-country people at mobile checkpoints. for coronavirus infection.

Currently, one of the infected people from Uzbekistan is being treated at the Kaunas Clinical Hospital, the others are isolated at the Abromiškės Rehabilitation Hospital.

Public health specialists are currently investigating about 200 employees of the coronavirus transport company, and the disinfection has been carried out at the company’s facilities.

To date, almost 1,900 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Lithuania and 79 deaths have been recorded.
