According to S. Skvernelis, new decisions on the situation will be made tomorrow at the government’s COVID-19 committee meeting.

“The Government’s COVID-19 Committee will meet this morning. We will consider safe travel and security measures. We will listen to specialists and make the necessary decisions promptly. We will inform the public about them. We must take the maximum preventive measures, because we no longer want suspend the life of the country for a few more months, “says the Prime Minister.

SAM: Consideration is being given to introducing mandatory tests for arrivals from countries at risk.

The Ministry of Health (SAM) is considering introducing mandatory tests for COVID-19 for arrivals from countries affected by coronavirus.

“The situation is currently being evaluated and analyzed, if mandatory tests should be introduced for those who come from countries at risk. For example, for those who come not only for work, but also for training or other purposes,” Lina told BNS Bušinskaitė, adviser to the Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga.

There are currently no such mandatory tests.

After it was announced that a total of several Uzbeks who had come to work at Hegelmann Transport in Kaunas had been diagnosed with the infection, Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis addressed Health Minister Aurelijus Verygas on Wednesday, proposing mandatory tests of coronavirus of third-country nationals.

Uzbeks are believed to have been infected before they arrived. About 200 company employees are being studied for the coronavirus.
