Aistė Mardosaitė, human resources manager at Kaunas-based logistics company UAB Hegelmann Transporte, said they were people who had come to work. They are currently being treated in the hospital and their condition is not complicated.

“2 July 22 people from the Republic of Uzbekistan flew to Riga, from where they arrived in Kaunas on a bus belonging to the company. The arrivals are candidates for employment as long-distance drivers of UAB Hegelmann Transport.

The company can employ people who have successfully listened to and completed the prescribed training. This is the first group of candidates for employment in the company from abroad after quarantine. It is necessary to mention that the people came from countries that are not subject to compulsory isolation.

Upon arrival in Lithuania, these people were housed in a hotel for drivers. The hotel has all the necessary infrastructure. The group was staying on one floor of the hotel and had no contact with people on other floors, “he said.

The representative explained that all necessary measures had been taken as a precaution against the arrival of future employees: the temperature was measured daily before the start of training and regularly, and doctors were called when the temperature was recorded.

“During the implementation of all the requirements, the representatives of the responsible institutions have been informed about the identified cases, we also communicate and consult with the National Center for Public Health,” said A. Mardosaitė.

Currently, in addition to the entire group of 22 people who arrived, as explained, there are also three company employees in isolation who had unavoidable contact with the group, and three more were diagnosed with coronavirus.

“Other people with symptoms are also being studied: the results of their tests will be known later. Additional investigations of COVID-19 employees are being organized today and tomorrow,” said the human resources manager.
