Earlier Sunday, a Mumbai hospital reported that Miss World actress and ex-husband Abhishek Bachchan and her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, who are also Bollywood superstars, had been diagnosed with the new coronavirus and were hospitalized with moderate symptoms.
Rai and her 44-year-old daughter Aaradhya, 8, were also infected with the new coronavir, said a city official, who declined to reveal her name.
An earlier statement from a private Nanavati hospital claims that Amitabh Bachchan, 77, is in stable, isolated condition. On Saturday, the actor himself tweeted that he had undergone a coronavirus screening test and asked people who had interacted with him in the past 10 days to do so.
Her son Abhishek Bachchan wrote on Twitter on Saturday night: “We were both hospitalized with moderate symptoms. Please … don’t panic. “
Senior Bachchan has starred in over 200 Indian films in the past five decades. He is also a former politician and television presenter.
Bachchans are often known as the first Bollywood family. Elder Bachchan’s wife, Jaya, is also an actress, once a member of parliament.
