Morricone died in a hospital where he was being treated for a fractured femur after a fall, according to reports.
The composer has composed music for around 500 films, including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, from director 1966’s Sergio Leone’s west, and Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight in 2016, who brought him an Oscar.

His lawyer and family friend, Giorgio Assuma, said Morricone “died early in the morning of July 6, finding peace in his faith.”
He remained “completely intelligent and extremely dignified to the end,” the report said.

Following the announcement of Morricone’s death, many online expressed respect for the late grandmother.
“We will always and with infinite gratitude remember the artistic genius of maestro Ennio Morricone,” wrote Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Twitter. “It woke up our dreams, excited us, and encouraged us to think, writing memorable notes that will last forever in the history of music and film.”
Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza wrote on Twitter: “Goodbye, teacher, and thank you for the emotions you have given us.”
The former director of the Cannes Film Festival called the composer the “emperor” of film music.
Born in Rome on November 10, 1928, the trumpeter’s son began composing music at the age of six. At the age of 10, E. Morricone entered the trumpet school on the prestigious St. of Rome. At the Cecilia Conservatory.
His film career began in 1961, when Morricone was 33 years old. She then collaborated with director Luciano Salce, who made the film Fascista (Il federale). In 1964, he gained world fame by composing music for S. Leone’s “A Fistful of Dollars”.
He has been nominated for awards at the U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at least five times in 2016, and many were upset that his great talent had not been honored with this prestigious award before. In 2007, the composer received an Oscar for his lifelong achievements.
Morricone was nominated for an Oscar for music for Days of Heaven (1978), The Mission (1986), The Untouchables (1987), Bagsis ”(Bugsy, 1991) and Malena (2000).
To the public, Morricone’s work is primarily related to the S. Leon westerns starring Clint Eastwood, but his film score is considered by many film critics to be that of director Roland Joffe’s 18th-century Spanish Jesuits.
Morricone has also collaborated with some of the most famous filmmakers. After joint projects with Leon, he also worked with the famous Italian directors Federico Fellini and Pier Paolo Pasolini, as well as Pedro Almodóvar, Bernardo Bertolucci, Brian De Palma and Oliver Stone.
