After the incident, it became clear that the young woman, who had just given birth, had taken the baby and left. Even now, the mother’s relatives are grieving: the Vilnius woman says her daughter visited the doctors, but she concealed the pregnancy and claimed she was overweight.

“We asked her why she did it, her daughter said she was confused and did not know what to do,” recalled the mother in a sad conversation.

Another relative of the mother told me that the girl suffered concussion and a lot of stress, in addition to bleeding a lot as a result of childbirth and finally passed out. According to her, in other circumstances, the mother of the abandoned baby is good, non-aggressive, kind, very fond of animals and children.

The newborn’s mother was brought to court after the incident, police and prosecutors launched an investigation, and so far the woman is in captivity and the baby has been placed in temporary custody.

“According to the law, I had to give the child to the relatives: I am his grandmother and I can raise him, I have also worked as a babysitter for many years, I understand everything about them and I love him very much.” But they said I wouldn’t let him pick it up because I’m too old, “she said.

The relative said that all the relatives were surprised by such a decision and that no one had seen the baby for half a year.

Grandma is not only fighting for the care of the child, but the father would also like to get him back. He said he would very much like to do it, but it is not possible. The man said he has raised his two children and is ready to get his daughter back. “I will soon open my own art sculpture company,” he opened.

The boy’s father did not blame the mother for leaving the baby in the stairwell and said it was postpartum stress: “Nothing to do, it can happen to all women. I really want to launch it because it closed completely unexpectedly” .

The father, who cannot retrieve the daughter, only blames the authorities for everything, and a DNA test was carried out that confirmed that he is the father. Still, time is ruthless for these loved ones, since after twelve months of temporary custody, the child can go to strangers. The enraged man described this stage of life as one of the most difficult.

The girl’s grandmother assured her that she would go anywhere and that she would also find a lawyer. “I also wrote a complaint to a child rights department. Then it turned out that it wasn’t what I needed there, but some kind of inspector, but how do I know? All doors are closed, as soon as you go somewhere, the law quotes you immediately, it is said that you cannot provide information. “

She was told to go to the doctor for a health check-up, but the elderly woman found it difficult to do so due to her quarantine and fear of becoming infected with coronavir at medical facilities.

“If I can work, then I am healthy. I don’t understand what those institutions need more,” complained the mother’s mother.

However, child rights experts say so far they have not received any requests from the family to return the child. “Perhaps the situation was somewhat complicated by the quarantine, which delayed everything and prevented people from coming and communicating. However, in this case we were active and tried to find and contact each other, but we have to declare that such a request was not received.” commented Gedas Batulevičius, Head of the Vilnius Child Rights Protection Department.

An investigation has been launched into why such a situation has arisen and the child closest to him is not being returned to the child. Edita Žiobienė, Ombudsman for the Protection of Children’s Rights, emphasized that when it comes to the care of these children, it is very important that family members understand that the state has no need to take children from them.

“We have launched an investigation and we are explaining the main thing, if all the institutions have done what they could in this particular situation, or if there are possible actions that the institutions have not taken but are necessary,” concluded the specialist.

Delfi recalls that on December 16 at night, Vilniaus Taikos str. A newborn was found near the garbage container. Medical personnel were immediately called to the scene. Vilnius police informed the news portal at the time that the doctors who arrived had stated that the boy was alive. It was discovered that she was a girl who had just given birth.

Police officers immediately began searching for the suspect, who appears to have been nearby, with the woman living on the first floor of the home. The mother of a 34-year-old newborn was detained and worked with police officers.
