The United States set a new record for the COVID-19 epidemic on Thursday, with more than 53,000 new infections confirmed in the country each day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The University of Baltimore reported that at 8 p.m. 30 minutes. 53,069 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the United States at local time (Friday 3 a.m. to 3 p.m., Lithuania), and their total number increased to 2,735,339 since the start of the pandemic.

Large outbreaks of the disease are seen in the western and southern states of the United States, particularly Florida, where the number of infected people exceeds 169,000.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the situation was due to more active “social relationships” as young people gathered for parties, beaches, bars, pools and other popular attractions. Additionally, the state is conducting a “more intensive” COVID-19 test program, the governor said.

In Texas, where more than 2,500 people living with the coronavirus have died so far, Governor Greg Abbott ordered districts with 20 or more cases to wear masks and banned gatherings of more than 10 people.

8,000 new cases of COVID-19 were detected Wednesday in this southern state. This caused concern among health officials, and the governor was forced to largely freeze the phase-out program launched in early May.
