Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps promised to publish a full list of countries from which people arriving will not be subject to mandatory isolation a little later on Friday.

However, Scottish ministers have stated that they will not automatically apply the English resolution and that there are doubts about Wales and Northern Ireland.

“Today we are taking another step by gradually opening our borders,” Shapps said in a statement.

“If you are a holiday organizer ready to travel abroad or a business representative hoping to reopen the company’s doors, this is great news for people in the UK and British companies,” he said.

Shapps warned that the UK “would react quickly and try to protect the country in the event of a sharp rise in COVID-19 in other countries with which it has relations.”

Scottish Justice Minister Humz Yous said the Scottish government would still need “a few days to investigate the possible public health consequences of removing the self-isolation.” He claimed that Scotland had received a list of 70 London states on Wednesday night.

In at least eight of them, a proportion of the country’s population has had more infections than the same proportion in Scotland.

“This may be the case with up to 18 countries on the list, but so far we cannot say exactly because of the lack of data for all countries,” Yous said.
