One patient died of coronavirus at Santara’s clinics in Vilnius, the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) reported on Friday.

“A deceased person is a resident of the Vilnius district who became infected with a relative. Due to this infectious disease, it has been treated at Santara’s clinics since mid-May. It belonged to the age group 71-80. According to preliminary data, the person had comorbidities, “said Ginreta Megelinskienė, head of the Infectious Disease Management Division of the Vilnius Department of NVSC.

According to her, no further circumstances of the infection are known.

According to Friday, the coronavirus was detected in a total of 1,828 people, 199 people are still sick and 1,539 have recovered.

A total of 79 people died from COVID-19, and 11 other people who became infected with coronavirus died from other causes.

As of June 1, 34 import cases had been registered in Lithuania.

Modified case definition

The Ministry of Health (SAM), taking into account the changes related to travel, which came into effect on June 1. , clarifies the definition of the case. Hereafter, possibly ill, i. and. in case of suspicion, a person with characteristic symptoms of a coronavirus infection (COVID-19) who has traveled or lived in foreign states that are included in the list of countries published by SAM every Monday by decision of the Head of State Emergency Operations. It establishes the preventive measures that must be taken when returning from these countries.

In addition, a symptomatic person who has had close contact with a sick or potentially infected person during the past 14 days will also be considered a suspected infected coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Health (SAM) recalls that, after evaluating the epidemiological situation in Lithuania, starting June 1, tests for coronavirus infection will be carried out in accordance with the new procedure. Preventive tests are expected to be carried out on the basis of the municipality’s epidemiological indicators or, in other words, on the basis of a risk assessment in a specific municipality. Patients experiencing symptoms, as well as hospitalized patients on a planned basis and after outbreaks of infection, such as those infected in a dormitory, will be specifically investigated.

It is expected that all people who develop at least one symptom of an acute respiratory infection, that is, and. temperature, cough, shortness of breath and more. Additional symptoms include sudden loss or weakening of smell or taste. Less specific symptoms include headache and muscle aches, chills, tiredness, vomiting, or diarrhea.

As before, everything new in hospitals for planned treatment, i. and. operations, routine procedures, bedridden patients, as well as people who will be referred by specialists from the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) who work in pockets of infection, such as when a case is diagnosed in a dormitory-type home. In addition, tests will continue to be carried out to confirm that the person has already recovered, the so-called repeated tests.

This means that not all travelers arriving or returning from abroad without exception will have to undergo a test, as is currently the case. They will check to see if you experience typical symptoms of a coronavirus infection.
