One of the new cases is importation: the infection was detected in a person who visited relatives in Belarus.

Daiva Razmuvienė, Chief Specialist of the Communicable Disease Management Division of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), reported on this. According to her, both cases announced on Sunday are from Vilnius.

According to the NVSC representative, a person living in Lithuania infected with a coronavirus went to Belarus to visit relatives.

“The man went with his family to his relatives on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. He visited relatives, he is a young person, under the age of 20,” D. Razmuvienė told BNS.

According to her, the infected person has been in contact with the family, but it is likely that more people have been contacted.

At the time, the second person infected with the coronavirus was working at an auto repair company in Vilnius.

“Another case is local, which is still under investigation because he is an employee of an auto repair company. He will have to be interviewed again where he has had contact, where he has been infected,” said an NVSC spokeswoman.

According to Sunday data, the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in Lithuania reached 1815.

Currently, 224 people are still sick, 1503 have recovered and 93 are in isolation.
