“It just caught our eye then. I probably walked with such thoughts and a little bit of jealousy, always thinking that I could also identify with that community,” said the Seimas spokesman.
“I have no interest in betting only on the match card, I have an interest in all of Lithuania, so I showed up where the problems of all of Lithuania are being resolved,” he said.
According to V. Pranckietis, the unifying and creative aspects can be found in the program of the Liberal Movement.
“I delved into the program, into a narrower and broader one. I think that in it we can discover things that would unite us, lead us, create them and not dismantle them,” said V. Pranckietis.
The Seimas president thanked the party council for the confidence shown and joked that “it probably didn’t deserve too much.”
The guidelines for the electoral program were presented at the party council on Saturday. According to V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, the program distinguishes five main directions: opportunities for self-employed people, a strong health care system, education, green economics and human rights.
Simonas Kairys, the vice president who introduced the program, said the liberals will seek to reduce the personal income tax (PIT) and the value added tax (VAT).
The program declares a desire to work effectively with foreign investors and startups: Liberals said they were committed to creating 50,000 jobs by 2025. New jobs in the bioeconomy and circular economy. In addition, the party promises to encourage private investment in the development of renewable energy.
The program also aims to clean all Lithuanian rivers from contamination and increase forest cover to 35 percent.
