The director of a nursing home has discovered a way to communicate with antiviral relatives – no one writes on such a document.

“It just came to our attention then. Our people did not have to buy for those 100 euros, they all deliberately vaccinated with the first and second doses. All residents and employees of the institution are vaccinated, except those who cannot, let’s say they are sick, or perhaps other reasons do not allow it, ”said Vytautas Gricius, director of the Home for Social Care for the Elderly.

According to the head of the institution, the residents of these residences are just beginning to receive the third booster dose, but there are still no problems.

“We have just started vaccinating with the third booster dose, we have reached the moment when the polyclinic is vaccinated according to the schedule. Some of us were vaccinated yesterday, 60 people, others are vaccinated today. We still have 12 and 13 days, another two days to vaccinate and we have to complete the whole procedure. There are lists, there are no people who refuse to be vaccinated, “said V. Gricius on Friday.

In nursing homes, where the average age of the population is 87, not everyone can make their own decisions. The head of the institution pointed out that there are cases in which the approach of family members is not entirely adequate.

“We try to talk to skeptical loved ones. We offer you to take the risk then already for yourself. There are special forms that people agree to vaccinate and sign. We offered to sign in writing that they would take responsibility if a loved one dies.

There are people who can no longer make a decision for themselves. We have a lot of them. Then we tell your family, if you do not agree to sign, write that you take responsibility if the person dies because of it. When you offer to sign such a document, the desire to be a van is diminished, ”said V. Gricius.

I think that would work for other non-vaccinators as well.

The person in charge of the residence hall is skeptical about the € 100 incentive for people over 75 years of age.

“It is not about money, health is more expensive than those one hundred euros,” said V. Gricius.

The manager said that he sometimes hears such words: “let me die quietly, I don’t want to be vaccinated. What do you care about my health? “

“There is a supposed expression of the patient’s will. I always say this to antivirals: “write a statement of the patient’s will that” if I get sick, don’t treat me, don’t take me to the ambulance, let me die quietly. “When you gave such a document to anti-waxers for them to sign it, probably nobody would sign it ”, supposed V. Gricius.

Care institutions do not complain

Edmund Jonynas-Kozhevnikov, director of the Association of Alzheimer’s Care and Nursing Institutions, also confirmed that the nursing home has no problem with vaccination.

“Now probably no one has a problem, because there are more vaccines than they want. (…) All the information on the nursing home is from the Ministry of Social Security and Labor. They take care of everything, so there are no unknowns in this The first and second vaccinations have gone very well in all Lithuanian nursing homes, and we still do not have data on the third, “said the interviewee.

The booster dose can be given to older people starting in September.

As of September 7, the third booster dose of the vaccine is open to more groups in society, including those from the health system, care centers, the social system and people over 65 years of age.

The booster dose of Comirnaty (manufactured by BionTech and Pfizer) or Spikevax (manufactured by Moderna) is also given to the following people (without priority):

– patients receiving supportive care and nursing services;

– employees of medical institutions that provide or participate in the provision of personal health care services, other employees of medical institutions, except those whose main activity is not the provision of personal health care services;

– pupils and students of vocational training institutions practicing in a medical institution and participating in the provision of personal health care services;

– staff working in mobile points and fever clinics;

– volunteers who work as volunteers in medical institutions for at least 16 hours. for no more than 14 consecutive days, and employees of other legal entities that provide cleaning, catering or other services in medical institutions and have contact with patients or remain in the facilities they visit;

– employees of social service institutions, elderly social workers, guardians and people who live permanently with guardians, family members and people who work together or permanently together with family members, residents of social care institutions, specialists who supervise the activities of social care institutions, ongoing COVID. -19 outbreaks, employees of the State Service for the Protection of the Rights of the Child and Adoption, working families and / or visitors directly, personal assistants for the disabled, sign language interpreters and people who volunteer in social service institutions during the minus 4 pm for no more than 14 consecutive days, employees of other legal entities that provide cleaning, food supply or other services in social service institutions and who have contact with residents or visitors of these institutions and / or remain in the visited facilities by said residents or visitors;

– Laboratory personnel of public health facilities and other facilities that perform COVID-19 disease testing, including sampling;

– Specialists in epidemiological diagnosis of COVID-19 cases and outbreaks visiting COVID-19 outbreaks;

– pharmacy staff;

– drivers of municipalities (or their designees) and medical institutions that transport people who suffer or are suspected of having COVID-19;

– people over 65 years of age.
With the booster dose, people are vaccinated no earlier than 180 days after the second dose.
