Cats, dogs and ferrets born before May this year and not tagged with chips must be tagged before May 2022. Animals born this May and later must be tagged within 4 months of arrival.
Only marked and registered animals can be transferred to another owner or keeper. So if you plan to buy a pet, make sure it is marked and registered with the Pet Registry. That means it came from legal and responsible breeders.
Another novelty is that breeders must notify the Pet Register of all mating dates of females and males, artificial insemination of females, in order to know if these animals are not used too often for mating. Pets transferred from the European Union and imported from third countries will be registered by the territorial units of the State Food and Veterinary Service.
