Vlada Musvydaitė addressed the Benediktas Vanags company with a public complaint about the “Going” event that took place over the weekend. According to a well-known initiator of health projects, this event violated the intellectual property rights of the “IKI Walking Competition” organized by Vladas for 6 years in a row, using the characteristics of the event concept, which “misled both partners and participants.” .
Portal People.lt After contacting Vlada Musvydaitė, he claimed that the company run by Benediktas Vanags had arbitrarily plagiarized many details of the event, from nearly identical medals to embezzled “Walking Competition” photos, which were corrected with the help of a program of photo editing.
“I will not hide, when I saw that the” Walking “event was a live plagiarism of the” Walking Competition “, I first reacted to a woman – I cried and then took action. I want to emphasize that I am in favor of health and sporting events, They must be as many as possible, but original and that they do not violate the rights of others ”, the portal. People.lt said Vlada Musvydaitė.
“IKI Ęjų konkurybos” medal and “Ėjimas” medals / Edition by Vladas Musvydaitė
Vlada Musvydaitė described the whole situation on Facebook:
“During the weekend, I received a blow to the face, as well as the entire team and the participants of the organization of the“ GOING Competition ”. UAB Pitlane, led by Benediktas Vanagas, violated our intellectual property rights. We have already made an official claim and would like to inform everyone publicly.
The free walking event “Walking Competition” has been organized for 6 years, the event concept has been created by me and developed together with the UAB Walk15 team. This walking event is unique in that it encourages not only families and groups to go together, but also to bring pets, which are registered separately. They also receive medals.
The uniqueness of the medals for the participants of our events is that they are always made of wood and with a purple cord. It’s a shame, but at the event organized by UAB Pitlane, which took place this Saturday, not only were the medals and other components of the event repeated, but photos from our event were also used. The essential features of our concept were used which, as can be seen from the comments received, misled both the partners and the participants of the event.
Not only was the distinctive color of our events, purple, used in the communication of the event, but even some of our photos, which were only visually corrected by removing the attributes of our event sponsors.
In global practice, any use of the event concept is only possible with an event franchise, but UAB Pitlane did not present itself to us with such a request and thus seriously violated our intellectual property rights.
I have carried out up to 18 events of this type that have integrated my whole family. I would like to inform everyone who has been misled on September 25th. The “Going” event is just an attempt to copy the initiatives organized by the UAB Walk15 ”, wrote Vlada Musvydaitė on the social network Facebook.

B.Vanagas: “The accusations are serious, we must answer”
A little later, Benediktas Vanagas also expressed his position. According to the runner, the organizers of the “Walking” event did not infringe any intellectual property rights and Vladas Musvydaitė’s accusations were unfounded. He also shared the publication on the social network Facebook.
As you know, a wonderful walk was organized on Saturday, which brought together thousands of live walk enthusiasts with families, friends, colleagues and pets from all over Lithuania.
Today Pitlane the team and I (as without the name of Vanags) received a public accusation from Vladas Musvydaitė. We understand from the published address that Vladas Pitlane broken Walk15 intellectual property rights, in particular:
- He “borrowed” the “unique” idea of walking, but walking with family, colleagues or pets turns out to be “unique” as well.
- made wooden medals with purple cord.
- used violet without permission.
- used two visually corrected photos, also used by Walk15.
The accusations are serious, the answer must be:
- Mass sporting events Pitlane has been organizing for 15 years.
- That’s what the team does, my role in them has been an advisor for a long time.
- The IKI Velomarathon, of which we are proud, was, in general, a great “icebreaker” for changes in mass sporting events. It was followed by a series of good initiatives, which I congratulate. Like many good practical solutions to organize this type of event. Many organizers of sporting events have been inspired and take advantage of the good practices of the Velomarathon.
- The registration of families, companies, friends, children or related people is nothing new in the world of events. We always have.
- As there were already more than 6,000 participants, there was no need to register pets, especially to award them medals. Still, we do not believe that we need to torture the living by clinging to them which nature did not give us. If the pet owners, having crossed the track together, want to take a picture of their pet with a medal, here is their decision.
- Now let’s talk about colors. No matter how much I want to resent the factory teams or the world’s biggest brands that have started using black, matte-colored, silver bull or white partner logos, I understand that the colors do not belong to me. There is a term called color psychology. The great minds of the world study how one color or another affects people, what it means, what it is associated with. Blue-Purple-Pink The combination conveys the necessary conceptual dispositions and is widely used in walking and mobility events around the world. In the comments, I’ll include some “found by hand” examples.
- Wooden medals are a popular green initiative that is popular, used in many events, and welcomed. It is also actively offered by most paraphernalia manufacturers.
- Now the two photos. They have been provided to us by event partners we trust and we have no reason to doubt copyright. No further adjustments have been made to the photo.
Instead of the end. I am glad and proud that there are many running, cycling, walking and other events promoting healthy living in Lithuania. Its participants have the right to choose and the organizers have the right to show their ingenuity and talent. I understand that I would very much like to be the sole organizer of planetary walking events, but today we can only say THANK YOUwhich is contributing to a healthier society, ”wrote Benediktas Wang.
