Since August, the new office, located in the newly built Business Garden Vilnius business center, houses a product development, strategy development and implementation unit.
Rocket Software’s Vilnius office currently employs 70 people, but by early 2023, the Lithuanian team will have a total of about 200 specialists. It is true that Elinga Kavaliauskienė, director of Rocket Software Lietuva, emphasizes that if there are opportunities, the company can grow even more.
“We have not set a specific number. We know that we want and have a place to grow. We can quickly show our added value. This was important to the company and therefore more products of our company are seen in Lithuania as a” place. Where to go “, after the presentation of the new office. 15 minutes she said.

They train employees themselves
In Lithuania, Rocket Software focuses on the development and maintenance of system optimization, data analysis and monitoring products for Mainframe platforms. According to E. Kavaliauskienė, all IT specialists had to be trained, because there is a great lack of professionals who develop products on the Mainframe platform in the country and around the world.
“As far as we know, we are the only mainframe engineers of such a high level not only in Lithuania, but also in the Baltic countries. We have no other choice, so we teach this specific area ourselves and constantly invest in employee training. Next year we will start with the zNextGen program for students or people with little professional experience. It will include training in both programming and agile methodology skills, “said E. Kavaliauskienė.
In addition, Rocket Software Lietuva has signed an agreement with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and plans to invest in student training.
“It is growing the company with the students, training them and thus creating new employees at Rocket. We have not defined the exact number, but we really would like to have between 10 and 20 students. ” 15 minutes said the head of the company.

The pandemic adjusted the hiring of personnel
The company entered Lithuania just before the pandemic, in January 2020. According to E. Kavaliauskienė, the company never promoted work from home, so even the beginning of the pandemic became a challenge even for the CEO of the company. However, for the company that has just entered the market, the headache has become not how to send two people who were working at home at the time, but how to find employees.
“The whole world has stopped a bit, and so have we. But it was not a very long stop, rather a rethinking of what will be now and how we will hire. But there was no question whether we would hire as much as we wanted or really,” he said .
Currently, the company has opted for a hybrid work model, where part of the time you can work from home and the rest from the office. Company manager 15 minutes argued that such a model was introduced permanently.
“We don’t promise to keep going back to the office completely, because we saw the benefits of it, there were no problems working from home. Productivity has not diminished and employees have a lot of fun choosing to come to the office or work from home. And not all of them are good at working in the office because they saw that they work better at home. And for us, the office continues to be a space for collaboration, team building, because it is no longer about one person only being able to work in the office, we have learned to work from everywhere. And now we are learning to work from the office again ”, assured the interlocutor.

The problem is not the salary
Regarding the shortage of employees, according to E. Kavaliauskienė, we face this problem not only in the information technology sector. According to her, after posting a job advertisement, there are far fewer people willing to work than before.
“We knew that we would open a company and suddenly these people would come. The first thing that we have clarified very clearly is the identity of the company, who we are, why we are better than other companies, how we can attract these new employees and why they should choose us ”. 15 minutes She explained.
According to E.Kavaliauskienė, it is not the salary but the brand awareness that has become the main challenge to attract talent to work in this company.
“We are not a bank, like other strong players, we are not a telecommunications company, we are a very specialized organization known only to our clients, but not known in Lithuania,” he said.

The average salary in this company is 4.5 thousand. (According to Sodra, the average salary for women is 4,488.79 euros, for men 4,503.82 euros).
“We believe that our salaries are really competitive,” said E. Kavaliauskienė.
The meeting rooms are being abandoned in the new office.
The company office opens in the newly built Business Garden Vilnius business center. 890 square meters. m of office space is equipped with 62 workplaces, so employees will not have personal desks or cabinets. They will be able to choose the workplace that best suits the tasks being performed at the time or the nature of the job, with a flexible mix of office and remote work.
“The 62 seats we plan should be enough for 120 employees, because we work both at home and in the office,” he added. 15 minutes E.Kavaliauskienė said and added that in the future the possibility of renting more premises is not ruled out.
The interior of the office was created by the architectural firm A2SM.
