The life of D. Kuzminskas, a native of Šiauliai, who once worked in the construction business, changed when he started creating a yurt village. He currently lives with his family on a farm on the other side of Lake Medinis.

“Now I’m in a passive business,” says the man who welcomed the guests to Yurt Village.

“We built the first yurt for ourselves. But later there were so many people who wanted to try it out that we no longer had enough opportunities to accommodate everyone: how a yurt became a village of yurts, says the businessman.” would turn into a business. “

The customers of the first yurt a decade ago were three foreigners: from South Africa, Finland and Estonia. According to D. Kuzminskas, three men planned to spend the night in nature during the cold Lithuanian winter, and after seeing the yurt, they asked to stay there.

“There was about half a meter of snow, they tripped and stayed in the yurt. In the morning I found a monetary thank you left on the bed ”, recalls the interlocutor.

Invites not only to stay

The Kuzminskas yurt business is not just about accommodation services. As the man said, you can also build such a building for the inhabitants who want it on your land.

Yurts are made of wood and wool. A tent is also required, which the entrepreneur unloads from Switzerland.

According to him, if the awning is “breathable”, it lasts from 5 to 7 years.

“It is possible to put on an awning” without breath “, but then you will not feel a true yurt experience, because you will be like in a brick house,” explained the interlocutor.

It is the imperfect sound insulation that gives the yurt its charm: although the stove and the air conditioner in it heat the room to the desired heat, the sounds of the forest easily penetrate the yurt. Therefore, those who wish to build a yurt on their territory are offered to choose the most secluded place surrounded by nature and not near the road where the sounds of traffic can be heard.

Another important condition for the yurt to last a long time is to make sure that the interior is not too humid. Otherwise, the wool will be quickly eaten by moths.

D. Kuzminskas says that some people not only decide to try an accommodation in a yurt village, but also build for themselves, to stay temporarily or even to live.

“Now kindergartens are especially active: they build yurts for their activities. We have also built a yurt near Vilnius, on the banks of the Neris. The guy who saw and traveled a lot around the world decided that he wanted to live in a yurt,” he said. businessman.

According to D. Kuzminskas, he and his colleagues can build a yurt for their clients in a week. Since the yurt is a mobile building, it can be chosen during the day.

When asked what the prices were for such a building, D. Kuzminskas stated that 40 square meters M. My yurt without a floor costs around 15 thousand. euros.
