The new skate park near the White Bridge, which opened this winter, was officially named after skaters, who gathered in large numbers on Sunday night to mark World Skateboard Day. For more than a decade, June 21. Participants of the day celebrated in Lithuania from all over Lithuania created a veritable feast of extreme sports and delighted Vilnius residents and guests with their performances.

“Like every year, we come together to celebrate our professional holidays: the International Skateboarding Days. All over the world, skateboarders gather on the streets, perform, compete or make sense of the sport on this day.

This pandemic year has adjusted vacation plans. Usually we went out into the streets, the action took place in various places, a multitude of skaters walked through the city of Vilnius, stopping at certain places to do tricks, show off their skills, and show passers-by how fun this sport is . However, this year we moved all the action to the new White Bridge Skateboard Park due to the remaining security requirements and, of course, because the right infrastructure finally appeared in Vilnius to receive many representatives of extreme sports at the same time, “said Justinas Ivoška, President of the Lithuanian Skateboard Federation.

Skaters competed in the new concrete park and demonstrated their dominance in various competitions. From the highest dances of the party to the fast lane, there was also a veteran competition: there was no shortage of places to shine.

“Today we all meet: beginners, young people and the so-called ‘veterans’ Skaters with 20 years of experience. We are very happy in a still growing community, where the transfer of knowledge and skills takes place between generations and on a day like never before, it is a good time to show how united we are, how we love and appreciate this sport in Lithuania, “said J Ivoška.
