A joint meeting of the governments of Lithuania and Poland will be held in Warsaw

The meeting in the Polish capital will be attended by a delegation of nine Lithuanian ministers and six vice ministers, led by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.

The visit to Warsaw will take place on September 17, when Poland commemorates the 82nd anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland.

This is the second such meeting of the governments of Lithuania and Poland, the first meeting took place on September 17, 2020 in Vilnius, under the chairmanship of the then Prime Minister of Lithuania, Saulius Skvernelis.

In Warsaw, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with the Polish Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki, Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek and Senate Marshal Tomasz Grodzki.

The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania Dainius Kreivys, the Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė, the Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anušauskas, the Minister of Social Security and Labor Monika Navickienė, the Minister of Transport Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkys , the Minister of Education; Science and Sports Jurgita Šiugždinienė will participate in the meeting of the governments of the countries, the Minister of Justice Evelina Dobrovolska, the Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaitė, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arnoldas Pranckevičius.

According to the Government of Lithuania, the Warsaw meetings will seek opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, defense, home affairs, economy and energy, as well as other fields.

The implementation of strategic infrastructure projects and cooperation between countries in EU and NATO formats will be discussed. The meeting of governments will discuss the importance of preserving the identity of national minorities and their contribution to strengthening bilateral relations ”, states the Government.

Prime ministers are expected to sign a joint declaration of cooperation between the parties at the meeting of governments.

During the visit, I. Šimonytė will also visit the Museum of Polish Jewish History “Polin”, to pay tribute to the memory of the Warsaw ghetto fighters.
