DV Simaitis, a longtime social democrat, has died

From 1989 until his death he was a member of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, chairman of the Tauragė district branch, 1989-1999. LSDP Board Member, 1997-1999. Board Member, since 2001. LSDP Board Member, Vice President of the Tauragė District Division.

He was an active politician in 1990-1995. Tauragė District Council Member, 1995–1997, 1997–2000, 2000–2003, 2003–2007. and 2007 (resigned) Member of the municipal council of the district of Tauragė.

D.Simaitis, who is not lacking in energy, was also the chairwoman of the council of the Tauragė Women’s Employment and Information Center. D.Simaitis was the pioneer of wrestling in Tauragė.

Awarded in June 2008 by the President of Seimas Česlovas Juršėnas for excellent leadership and reliable heat supply to energy consumers, in February 2009 by the President of the Lithuanian Energy Council and by the President of the Lithuanian Energy Council . The latest award was awarded by the Ministry of the Environment to Tauragė heating networks as the company that most reduced carbon dioxide emissions in 2005-2007. The Department of Physical Culture and Sports has awarded for the development of the sport of wrestling.
