People complain

The editorial board has received many statements that the country’s universities have succumbed to the “fad” of human segregation.

“The management of the University of Vytautas Magnus (Vytautas Magnus University) has issued an order: only people vaccinated with GMO vaccines or infected with” cows “(that is, privileged of higher finesse) are admitted to the university. The price of the test is EUR 80. Vaccinated people have the right to legally spread the virus and infect other people, they are not required to undergo a PCR test ”, a reader shared his observations.

It is seconded by another:

“This week, students must register for study subjects by logging into their electronic account on the VMU website. However, the system does not allow you to register until the student has accepted the published terms. However, the university has seemed to put an invoice for the fall semester, which the student must pay, as if it were not in the student’s account, even if the enrollment in the study subjects (without agreeing to the conditions) is not allowed!

August 24, the administration sent students a questionnaire asking if students have a Passport to Opportunity and, if not, when they plan to receive the first or second dose of the vaccine. What can be answered in a questionnaire of this type? Questions about dosage are more appropriate for camp clients. Among other things, the Passport of Opportunities is not mentioned as a document in any record of state legislation. Is this a new personal document that takes precedence over the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania (and at the same time the passport of a citizen of the European Union), the absence of which deprives people of the constitutional right to higher education ? enshrined in article 41 of the Constitution? In the Constitution, the right of a person to higher education is linked only to the capabilities of the person. “

Students from other higher education institutions also faced similar problems.

“Dilemma about Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students. The students received an email. instructions by mail, and more precisely the order of the rector, what requirements will apply from September. Only those who have been vaccinated or have an Opportunity Passport will be able to participate by contact. Those who do the test every week will only be able to perform the PCR test, which costs from 70 euros.

A request has been submitted as to whether the tests will be reimbursed. The response received today is that if you choose the test, it will only have to be a PCR test, and students will not be reimbursed, so you will have to pay out of pocket.

There is no talk of an alternative to distance education. On the official KTU page, I found information that when 30 or more students meet, distance learning will be applied, when Klaipeda University will have the opportunity to distance learning, looking at the online audience.

The bottom line is that you will not be admitted to KTU unless you have been vaccinated and have a Passport of Opportunity. And that will be an unjustifiable reason why you were not at the conferences. An academic penalty will be imposed for this. Two of those penalties and they can be removed from the university, popularly speaking, discarded.

There are no alternatives to another science, just forced vaccinations or self-testing every week, which would cost around 300 euros a month. And what to do for other students, parents who are already having a hard time “turning their backs” to earn money for science, “said the student.

The same was pointed out to the editorial board by the parents of a prospective student. They are angry that both vaccinated and unvaccinated students can be carriers of the infection, but only those who do not have the Passport of Opportunity should take the test. “While not everyone can afford something like a vaccine, due to a variety of diseases, allergies and other risks,” they recalled the sad reality.

Vsio zakono?

After contacting Vytautas Magnus University, its representatives assured that the people who had written to the editorial board had not provided entirely accurate information.

“The university does not force anything to be vaccinated or tested. It is the free will of each member of the community. Vytautas Magnus University complies with the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, according to which only persons who meet at least one of the requirements listed in the resolution can participate in the contact study process of higher education institutions. In essence, those requirements overlap with the Passport of Opportunity requirements. Students without a passport will not be able to participate in contact training, but will be provided with all teaching materials and will be able to connect to lectures remotely. Lectures on university subjects at the university are given to all distance students ”, the reply was received.

In fact, the same response was given to KTU students. Representatives of this educational institution indicated that if the tests are not for the Opportunity Passport, they are not eligible and the corresponding tests will not be reimbursed to the students.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports also contributed to the widespread discrimination planned by the universities:

“According to the government’s decision, as of September, contact studies will be available only to students who are vaccinated, sick or regularly examined. The way in which the studies will be organized depends on the decision of each higher education institution. Ministry of Education, Science and Sports encourages all students to get vaccinated as soon as possible to guarantee both the safety of the academic community and the general public, as well as greater access to quality studies. “

Even more confusion

Everything seems to be clear, but the Ministry of Health (SAM) headed by Arūnas Dulkis, an economist, was unexpectedly surprised. According to the ministry, the validity of PCR tests has been shortened “to reduce the probability that infected people enter public places served only with a Passport of Opportunity and spread the virus.” It was also emphasized that “masks are recommended in such places.” Some people will not use them, although for some reason it has been forgotten that people who do not have to take the test and have the Opportunity Passport can also successfully spread or become infected with the virus.

Commenting on the testing situation, it was stated that “the tests for the EU digital COVID certificate are free when traveling abroad”, as they are co-financed by the European Union, within which they have to be paid.
