The Alytus County LSC received a notification about the event on Thursday at 2 pm 38 min.
It was reported that two heavy vehicles and Volvo and Opel cars collided. The driver of the last vehicle needed medical help and the man was taken to hospital.
According to preliminary data, the Opel car was heading from Kaunas in the direction of Druskininkai. When stopped to turn towards the village of Venciūnai, the MAN tractor truck turned towards Opel without noticing the vehicle (or, according to the police, it was unable to stop due to the potentially wet road surface).
In an attempt to avoid a collision, he obstructed a Volvo car parked on a side road, on the other side of the intersection, which, together with a tractor, got into a ditch along the road.
And from the impact of the tractor, the Opel collided with an oncoming Mercedes-Benz logging truck.
The drivers were sober at the time of the incident.
As of yet, there is no more accurate data on driver health from Opel.
