Forget the shaky cabins and desert bathing – show a different face of the Saint

Old cabins may disappear soon

After visiting the forest, where the old legendary huts of Šventoji still remain, here we find an image that has changed for almost twenty years: the same wooden buildings without comforts, the same curved roads. Showers and toilets are somewhere, but certainly not inside many of these cabins.

The woman who has seen some of the cabins here is told her fate is unclear: “We no longer accept guests here because they can never know when these cabins will not be available. The land belongs to some, the huts to others, there are rumors that other plans are being planned in their place, you can always say that it will break, ”says a woman who wanted to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the road there are visually very different cabins: here the recreation areas are much neater, there are a lot of tourists. There are several differently owned resorts located in this part of the holy site, and the manager of one of the vacation homes is committed to commissioning the cabins, showing them the interior, and informing them of the prices.

Night for two – 50 Eur, to the sea – A minute or two?

Roma, the administrator of Rainbow Holiday Home, says that this year there are many vacationers, the woman says that there has not been any pandemic change and the consequent decrease in traffic. Anaiptol: We visited the 100-room resort at the beginning of the week, but there were no places for the next weekend. Visitors who know the resort, Rome says, return here year after year, with some of their favorite hostels and rooms reserved for the summer in April.

There are three types of cabins at the resort. The newer double cabins cost 65 euros a day. Rome was unable to show the inside of these cabins, because they were all occupied at the time. Other slightly older double cabins with toilet, shower and separate terrace cost EUR 50 per day.

Tourists will find a double bed, a desk, a small bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower. On the terrace, a table with chairs. The cabin is located right next to the forest. I ask the resort manager the distance to the sea.

“It just came to my attention then. You can try it”, smiles Rome. I tried a little later and it took 1 minute and 47 seconds for the image of the sea to appear in front of my eyes. Not bad, right?

Supervised environment and alternative for savers

When it comes to relaxation, not everyone wants to spend, and for some, saving is more important than living in a particularly comfortable way. There are even cheaper alternatives for these tourists in the complex: a double cabin with a separate bathroom, but no shower, costs 30 euros per day. This is the cheapest option in this recreational area.

Showers are a bit further away, and the area also has a couple of shared kitchens with full equipment and barbecue area for shared use. The large but well-kept area is also pleasantly surprising: the bushes between the cabins, the paved paths.

The cabins in Šventoji still occupy a large part of the city, but the difference from the image you see at the time: many of the cabins are obviously new or renovated. Sventoji seems to be trying hard to break free from the stereotypical image of a cheap and cluttered resort: a new bus station, orderly streets, and renovated private areas.

Vacationers’ opinions differ

We asked vacationers why they choose Š advantage among all the tourist centers in the country: some did not hide that they were attracted here only by a cheaper price, and if they did not have to look at it, they would prefer to choose other Lithuanian alternatives. “We are here at four, we would already pay a lot in Palanga at this time. I am not talking about Nida at all, but it is clear that Nido is perhaps calmer and more beautiful. With only two children, it would be more difficult for us to pay, ”says Dalia, who is resting with her family.

Meanwhile, others emphasized the possibility of living by the sea for a bite as a great advantage of the Saint: “Where else did I find that I could walk to the beach in two minutes for 25 euros per person?” Said one of the vacationers who met. Another guest from Šventoji and his wife opened that they had not been here for many years and this year he chose Šventoji only because the desired place in Palanga was occupied: “It is a pity that I imagined for so many years that any. I really don’t know what to choose next time: Palanga or Šventoji. Of course, Palanga is mine, all the clues are known there. But at Šventoji, it turns out that everything is in order, in motion. “

However, for some, the nostalgic images and for others remain here: the two holy, almost famous places, the Piglet’s Paradise and the Titanic, are still operating at full capacity. As nighttime approaches in these cafes, look for empty tables, and the Titanic, as in the old days, is not lacking in fun, concert after concert for Lithuanian music lovers. And here the opinions of vacationers differ: to some guests of the city it seems that the Saint has spent a lot of time to exchange with places of entertainment, while others do not hide, they have left and will go to places that have become a legend of the city.
