The news portal tv3.lt recalls that in order to achieve a more efficient return of foreigners who have crossed the Lithuanian state border illegally to their country of origin, the order shortens the procedural deadlines and establishes the procedure to provide support to foreigners so that return voluntarily.
“Illegal migration, which Lithuania is facing, is a test for all of us and we must find the best solutions while protecting the national interests of our state. Ensuring the rights of migrants determines not only trust in institutions Lithuanians and international organizations, but also the rational and economically useful use of state funds, ”Minister Agnė Bilotaitė said in the Interior Ministry report.
The foreigner will be informed about the possibility of submitting a request for voluntary return, and the request will be sent to employees of the Department of Migration or the State Border Guard Service.
A foreigner who wishes to return voluntarily to his country of origin will receive foreign travel tickets and a one-time cash benefit of € 300. The lump sum will be paid by the Department of Immigration or the State Border Guard Service; the cash will be delivered to the foreigner to be signed at the border control point on the day the foreigner returns to the foreign state.
This year, 4,112 migrants illegally crossed the border between Lithuania and Belarus.
