Eduardas Tarasevičius was born in 1942. August 25 Baltakiškės village, Pastovai district, Vitebsk region, Belarus. The parents were farmers.
He attended elementary school in the Anykščiai district, Mičionys, where his married sister lived.
1959 graduated from Vilnius Secondary School 7.
1959-1964 studied at Kaunas Medical Institute, Faculty of Pharmacy, obtained a pharmacist diploma, worked for several months as director of the Turgeliai pharmacy.
1964-1967 – postgraduate studies (equivalent to doctoral studies) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the Lviv Medical Institute.
Since 1967 he worked as an assistant in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Kaunas Medical Institute, a year later he was appointed head. Professor, 1972 awarded the pedagogical title of associate professor; 1972-1983 – Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry; 1976-1989 – Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; 1990 Defended his habilitation work at the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy; since 1998 he was awarded the pedagogical title of teacher.
Six doctoral students under the professor’s supervision successfully defended their doctoral theses in pharmaceutical science.
The researcher has carried out internships at the universities of Greifswald (1972), Zurich (1975), Kharkov (1985), Boston (1992).
With doc. Dr. Alfonsas Kaikaris founded the Lithuanian Pharmacy Museum at the Kaunas Medical Institute. 1970-1990 – President of the Scientific Society of Pharmacists (RFMD).
1990 October 13 RFMD was transformed into the Lithuanian Pharmaceutical Union (LFS), so that for a long time, until today, the president was prof. skilled. Dr. Eduardas Tarasevičius.
The professor was an honorary member of the Lithuanian Pharmaceutical Association in the United States; Honorary Member of the Pharmaceutical Societies of Latvia (1993), Estonia (1994), Slovakia (1996) and Poland (2008). 1991-1994 Chairman of the Lithuanian Pharmacopoeia Committee, since 1994. expert on the International Pharmacopoeia; 1991–2021 Editor of the specialized scientific journal Lithuanian Pharmaceutical News.
Thanks to the professor’s efforts, Lithuania was admitted to the International Pharmaceutical Federation and the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union.
The main field of his research is the synthesis and analysis of new biologically active compounds.
The research results are reflected in more than 150 scientific publications, 20 of which have been published in the form of copyright certificates (patents). Together with the co-authors, he prepared and published 20 educational publications.
The researcher is honored for the following merits in pharmaceutical science, studies and practice at the national and international level: He has been awarded the title of Meritorious Health Care Worker of Lithuania, awarded the Health Worker Badge of Honor from Lithuania; The Lithuanian Pharmaceutical Union evaluated their works by awarding the title of Honorary Member of the Lithuanian Pharmaceutical Union (2020) and awarding the award to prof. JF Wolfgang Commemorative Medal (2019).
