Klaipeda has come up with a plan on how to compete with the most popular resorts: more and more tourists are not running out of money.

The global coronavirus pandemic has changed the lives of millions of people, including Lithuanians. Many people started working remotely, it was no longer important to sit in the office, at home or somewhere under the palm tree. A new and very popular term has emerged, “vacation.” job), which means reconciling work and leave. When you don’t miss work at the same time, you can rest at the same time. To this end, many have wintered in South America, the Maldives, the Canary Islands, Egypt, etc. What worked best from there, and now you realized that you don’t have to take a special vacation to rest. Also, another advantage is that you can work on vacation almost all year round. After all, it sounds like a dream: relax and earn money. In Germany, France, Austria, Belgium it has become extremely popular. Interestingly, some companies have announced that the application of such a model has increased productivity, improved the internal atmosphere of the company and the like.

Lithuanians are also happy to use “work holidays”, as long as company and manager rules allow it. I met more than one, working and resting at the same time in February, March and April, wandering the world. I made sure that there were also a lot of distance students. For example, two schoolchildren from Kėdainiai, Egypt, were on vacation with their parents in a large all-inclusive hotel, but at the same time they did not drop out of their studies. And a student from Vilnius in Mexico enjoyed the benefits of a “work vacation.” The conference featured crisp, freshly made trails.

Resorts and big cities around the world are looking for those who work and are on vacation, because they did not find a perfect match. After all, if you rest and have fun, you spend a lot of money. But at the same time it works, which means that money never runs out. Spend, earn again, spend again. Having such a guest in your city is extremely profitable.

The new craze for “business vacations” attracted the interest of Klaipeda tourism specialists, who came up with a plan to attract as many guests as possible to the port city. We want those visitors, transport your money here, Klaipeda residents began inviting. And they very logically thought that this city has significantly more advantages for those who come to work than, for example, Palanga or Nida. One by one, the offices open here offering collaborative spaces. After all, there are more beaches than any other seaside resort, and very different: Smiltyne, Melnrage, Giruliai, around it there are also wild beaches, where there are almost no people.

Usually those who want to be by the sea for a longer period (one or two months), choose cheaper accommodation, which is exactly what Klaipeda, which has dozens of hotels, hostels, hostels and apartments for rent, it can offer. The more competition, the better prices. I verified that a decent overnight accommodation can be booked for one night in Klaipeda from 20 euros. If you are looking for a long term lease, the price will be even lower. As the most original place to stay, I could recommend a new capsule hotel created according to Japanese traditions, the only one of its kind in Lithuania. Also for those who come to work and rest at the same time, the infrastructure of the city and the availability of various services are important. In this regard, the third largest city in Lithuania is also ahead of the traditional resorts. There are more shops, markets, large supermarkets in Klaipeda. And the prices of food, cosmetics, perfumery and clothes in the big city are much better than in the tourist areas.

“We feel a lot of interest, many long-term guests are coming and they are growing. By the way, not only Lithuanians, but also foreigners,” says Romena Savickien directo, director of the tourist and cultural information center of this city, who works intensively with the advertising of Klaipėda.

There is also a list of cooperation spaces and partner hotels. Places where you can rent a workplace for a day, two, a week, a month or even more. And accommodation specially designed for vacationers. Some partners offer discounts to individuals, others to companies that send larger teams to work on the beach.

The Klaipėda cooperation spaces, which are aimed at working tourists, have specially prepared new proposals and created exclusive packages. For example, Kultūros fabrikas offers a Teambuilding package for teams that come to the beach for 90 euros, for which 100 square meters of space can be rented for one day. Or you can take the Teambuilding week package for a week right away, the same space for a week would cost 400 euros for the whole team.

People can rent a workplace in Klaipeda for about 15 euros per day, such a price is offered by both Kultūros fabrikas and the Lighthouse cooperation office.

Hotels are also actively involved in attracting tourists. For example, Radisson Blue Hotel Klaipeda offers a 15 percent discount if the guest arrives for 1-2 nights and a 20 percent discount.
