“It is also being discussed in Lithuania”

He noted that the issue has been raised in various parts of the world for months. The employers themselves take care of the safety of their employees and the smooth flow of their activities.

“In the end, all companies, especially private equity ones, take care of that. No matter what the company direction is. This is also being discussed in Lithuania. Many company managers have also spoken to me,” said the professor of the television program Lietuvos Rytas, Nauja Diena.

Vaccine excess

The freezers at the Health Emergencies Center (ESSC) have already been filled with unused COVID-19 vaccines.

According to S. Čaplinskas, the desire of the population to be vaccinated is determined by how the public is informed about the vaccine. According to him, before the introduction of a new vaccine, it is very important that people wait. It’s important to get answers to the specific questions you face from professionals you trust.

“Let’s face it, this was not done on time. Masks, laboratory diagnostics, vaccine purchase, supply and other issues were attended to.

Now we saw what could have been foreseen. The vaccine can be delivered to your doorstep, but the question is, will someone open your doors? In order for a person to open the door, they must receive timely answers to the questions that concern them, ”said the professor.

He added that the visible gap is not yet filled today.

The safety of the vaccine mix is not in question.

S. Čaplinskas also noted that in Lithuania, without a clear basis, there is a belief that after a person has been vaccinated with COVID-19 from one manufacturer, another should not be used.

“Science has clearly shown that mixing different vaccines gives a good or even better result. Even German Chancellor Angela Merkel was vaccinated first with Astrazeneca and then with another vaccine. The specialists certainly would not have advised her to do so if she had hesitated. ”Said the professor.

Therefore, according to him, if there are people who are reluctant to receive the second dose of AstraZeneca, you must make up your mind quickly and perhaps even allow yourself to choose another manufacturer’s vaccine.

“I have no doubt that such recommendations will appear in the vaccine manufacturers’ descriptions in the future,” added S. Čaplinskas.

Are mandatory tests required?

The Ministry of Health is considering introducing the obligation to carry out periodic tests for suppliers, cafeteria employees, public transport drivers and carriers, event managers and other professionals who are not vaccinated and free of COVID-19.

According to the professor, from a virological point of view, it is important that people are aware of their COVID-19 status. Therefore, the benefit of such a measure in this regard is not in doubt. However, it is also important to find a compromise with the attitudes of different people.

“If a person sees a potential danger, who may discover an unfavorable result, then he may be afraid of that test.

However, if he understands the potential benefits for himself, his family and the organization, then he can change his decision, “said S. Čaplinskas, emphasizing the importance of communication and fluid communication.

Is relaxation inevitable?

Recently, only a few dozen new COVID-19 cases have been detected in Lithuania every day, and most of the country’s municipalities have turned green on the morbidity map.

According to the teacher, it is natural for people to relax when they see it. Living in constant tension is not comfortable. Also, during the warm season, Lithuanians took less care of their health before the pandemic.

“Always in the summer, people requested less medical attention. Even childhood vaccinations have decreased. In the fall, parents catch it. Therefore, there is nothing wonderful here,” noted S. Čaplinskas, adding that because of weather conditions and changes in people’s habits, the risk of spreading the virus in summer decreases.

“It is very important that people understand why there is an increased risk of the virus spreading in the fall. Fortunately, the space for its spread will be reduced, because many of us will get sick or get vaccinated, “explained the infectious disease specialist and asked Lithuanians who have not yet done so to get vaccinated.
