The Vilnius Public Health Office “Vilnius Healthier” reports that on June 23, due to unfavorable weather conditions for the dispersion of pollutants, particle pollution (PM10) increased in Vilnius.
An exceedance of the daily limit value for PM10 was recorded at all air quality research stations in the city of Vilnius (Žirmūnai, Lazdynai, Senamiesčio and Savanorių ave.). According to the assessment of the Environmental Protection Agency, it is likely that due to the unfavorable weather conditions today (June 24, 2021) the daily limit value of PM10 will be exceeded. Office professionals remember that due to their small diameter, PM10 particles easily enter and accumulate in the lungs, causing coughing and sneezing.
In particular, it worsens the health of people with asthma, bronchitis. The greatest risk for the elderly, children, residents with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
Today, Lithuania’s climate will once again be determined by a lower pressure field. After a clearer and drier morning, the tall ball clouds will begin to build up again as it falls, and at different times during the night, but in many areas there will be brief thunderstorms again, with intense thunderstorms in some places. In the eastern districts, the storm will be accompanied in some places by splinters, with probable gusts of 15 to 19 m / s. Today, the highest temperatures will reach 23-25 degrees closer to the sea, elsewhere 26-29 degrees will prevail, and the eastern edge of the country will not yet be abandoned by tropical air, so it will maintain 30- 31 degrees. .
On Saturday, Lithuania will find itself in the middle of a receding low-pressure vortex and a rising anticyclone in the west. The night, especially in the first half of it, will continue with western rains, so it will rain briefly in many more areas, where there will be electrical storms. The wind will turn from the west, northwest, it will be of medium force. During thunderstorms, there may be stronger wind gusts in some places, but they are unlikely to be dangerous anymore. The night temperature will fluctuate between 14 and 19 degrees.
On Saturday the weather is expected to be cloudy, in the afternoon in places with short rains. Thunderstorms somewhere. A moderate wind will follow from the west, northwest. The air will already be cooler and the heat will be more Lithuanian, around 22-27 degrees.
On Sunday, our country will have a small anticyclone in the west and a Black Sea cyclone in the west. At night in some places, during the day it will rain for a short time, but it will rain a little. Thunderstorms can occur in some places. The wind continues to blow from the northwest, west, weak at night, throughout the day. The temperature will drop to 13-18 degrees at night, and we will also be able to rest during the day after the heat: 21-26 degrees are forecast.
Rainfall is forecast less early next week. The nights should be cooler and the days pleasantly warm.
