This is an indicator that there is nothing to fall asleep on our laurels here, “he assessed the situation.

According to J. Novagrockienė, political parties will have to responsibly turn their heads on how to adapt the resources available during the campaign.

“Political parties must be very fast and find ways to reach the electorate, to compensate for the time that could have been spent.” And the next thing is to think what it means and in what way. Clearly, invent ways in which all resources are limited: time, space, movement. And we have to find alternatives to what the peasants have already gathered today: a successful fight against the crisis caused by the pandemic, “said the political scientist, the challenges for the political forces as autumn approaches.

J. Novagrockiene Delphi These political forces would have to find new forms of communication attractive to the voter. After all, the additional cash benefits, while critical, achieve their goal: serving the most vulnerable groups in society.

“So what can you think of here? (…) The biggest problem here is that software setup. Conservatives, for example, have chosen the line to speak about the illegality of the measures that must be approved for the budget. But the problem is that the voter doesn’t care much, “said the political scientist.

“It is much more attractive for a voter to hear mid-level or even micro problems than macro. And what the conservatives say is a macro problem here,” he said.

It is for this reason that J. Novagrockienė promised a rather boring election campaign.

“Therefore, I think that the electoral campaign can even be uninteresting at times.” The only person with many resources that I see now in the political field is Artūras Zuokas, “said the interlocutor.

J. Novagrockienė recalled that in the single-member constituencies, the arrival of politicians to a department was very effective. But it is not yet clear whether this measure will work in the context of the coronavirus.

“This measure is difficult to implement, the danger of the virus has not yet passed. Here, the parties need ingenuity to interest and attract the voter, because now, so to speak, everyone celebrates freedom,” he explained.

Draw lines for other parts

During the quarantine, the opposition had disappeared from public space for a time, but has only recently returned to it. J. Novagrockiene Delphi He described possible electoral strategies for other parties.

“For example, Aušrinė Armonaitė’s little ‘Freedom Party’ has a niche that focuses more on a narrow circle of voters: postmodern democratic values, especially equality. And current events in the United States seem to be a part integral to those movements. But it is a momentary fragment, a question of whether it can become a strategy, “he said.

“The Social Democrats, who were the first to jump on their single-member list, I think they have already figured out what they will do. And they follow the line chosen by Gitan Nauseda during the presidential election: the welfare state line. It also intertwines a little with the social policy of the peasants ”, said J. Novagrockienė.

She said the interlocking common policy reveals the mistakes made by the government on the green issue: dissatisfied farmers, archery. And this, according to political scientists, may become a tactic for the LSDP.

J. Novagrockienė said he saw that the main opponent of the LV®S was the Homeland Union. Therefore, it is increasingly remembered in the decision-making process that the crisis of 2008-2009 was handled in a completely different way.

“It is done consistently, the sins of the conservatives are constantly remembered. This will be the line of their electoral campaign, in order to win as many seats as possible in the next elections in the Seimas,” he explained.

“We have already seen some political forces that have put enough effort into, say, the conservatives. They began to make their groups diverse, involving experts. According to him, the main focus of the next Seimas elections will be the rescue of jobs and businesses.

In this context, A. Katauskas also predicted the activation of populist forces.

“We just realized that we would see very little announced political forces in their essential messages. Although with rescue plans, some political forces will definitely try to come. At the same time, I think this period will be when we see many populist forces, it would be foolish. don’t take advantage of the current situation, “he said.

R. Katauskas has not yet wanted to draw clear strategies for the political parties.
