Conservative Sergei Jovaiša suggests that alcohol should be available eight hours a day, every day from noon to 8 p.m.
“Considering that restricting the time of alcohol trade is the most effective means of restricting the availability of alcohol, I propose to establish that the sale of alcoholic beverages in Lithuania is prohibited after 8 pm. until 12 noon ”, argues the parliamentarian.
“For Lithuania to stay sober for at least half a day. What would happen here if someone who really needs it in the morning doesn’t get it?” The MP told BNS.
According to S. Jovaiša, by shortening the trading time in the first half of the day, it would be possible to extend the trading on Sundays.
According to S. Jovaiša, he already proposed a similar amendment in 2016, when the peasants in power built a reform of the alcohol trade.
Last week, the Seimas adopted several amendments to the Alcohol Control Act: it is proposed to allow the trade of alcohol every day for 10-20 hours, and people over 18 years could consume up to 15 percent. Strength alcoholic beverages, while the strongest, only from the age of 20.
Alcohol control laws were drastically enforced by the old peasant government a few years ago: the age limit for drinking alcohol was increased to 20 years, business hours were reduced from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and all alcohol advertising. It was banned.
A poll conducted by BNS on behalf of Vilmorus in May shows 46.5 percent. 41.5 percent of respondents do not agree or rather do not support the revision of restrictions on trade and alcohol advertising, at that time they tend to support it.
Up to 74.6 percent. 59.3% of those surveyed did not agree or previously did not support lowering the age limit for alcohol buyers. respondents did not agree or rather disagreed with the extension of the hours of sale of alcoholic beverages.
