Užkalnis tried rainbow pizzas: “more daring businesses”

[ad_1]

In Lithuania, one of the first promoters of Naples pizza was Beata Nicholson’s husband, Tom Nicholson, about whom I have been writing “George and the Dragon” a long time ago, when I was not writing to Delphi: Their stoves were outside, at street parties, and then they opened restaurants. Then “Jurgis”, in my head, surpassed the quality of the Neapolitan pizzas “Užupis pizzeria”, which received the official certification of a true Neapolitan pizza and are baked by two bakers, Federico and Edoard Meschino, and recently ranked first in Europe and second in the world.

But Nicholson’s business didn’t stop and launched my beloved New York Brooklyn Brothers pizza, which has a slightly thicker base than Naples’, a firmer edge, and the rest of the base is soft, pliable, and edible with one. hand. The pizzas are more generous in size, flour, high in gluten; and it is also said that New York water (one of the best drinking water in the world, like Vilnius, and, for example, Los Angeles water does not taste very pleasant, not tasty to drink from the tap) contributes to the quality of the dough. And anyway, you know, everything in America is very good. America is the best country in the world with the happiest people.

The pizza box shows two bearded hipsters, well, you know, the ones where you often walk to the hairdresser and take care of the beard.

Now that we have had all kinds of bubbles against LGBT, association and other western issues here in Vilnius and in other parts of Lithuania, people have even gathered in Vingis Park and other parts of the city to protest against something, Brooklyn Brothers decided show your support for the values of the 21st century, and to remind you that there will be enough space in Lithuania for everyone, and wrote that they don’t care who you eat pizza with and it doesn’t matter who you sleep with. And the pizza box itself turned into a rainbow, and the pizzeria was temporarily renamed Brooklyn Partners to emphasize the acceptability of all partnerships. I think this is a very good approach and the way responsible business should work, because you shouldn’t be afraid to upset any villain – you get three supporters for every villain. In fact, inarticulate shouted songs from Mažeikiai and Naujoji Akmen broke onto the internet that they would not go there in life and boycott the pizzeria. Funny. Here, as if I were announcing a boycott of the Orlauskas concert, neither I was, nor will I be, nor did I intend to go, it would be a boycott.

And yet another product, which they launched and delivered together with the entire order to my epic, legendary and elite estate in the Vilnius district (presented by company director Odeta Bložienė, sister of Beata Nicholson, setting an example for that the messenger’s job does not end) is “Detroit Sisters” is a rectangular and deeper Detroit pizza, much looser and smoother. This pizza originated in Detroit, Michigan, after World War II, and was used as a rectangular industrial can shape, the true purpose of which was to collect grease in a workshop or to store small pieces in it so that it did not spread. Detroit is America’s automotive capital, and it’s no accident that the picture of the car on the box (and now also a rainbow sticker with the words “Partnership Pizza”).

Detroit pizza traditionally uses semi-hard Wisconsin Brick Cheese, a “cheese brick,” if New York pizzas are closer to the original Italian recipe, and there is often Parmesan, skamorca, and mozzarella “fior di latte,” and in places extremely luxurious, variant mozzarella, this is already a completely American idea, because what could be more American than cheese from Wisconsin, a dairy state where even the symbol of the state is a dairy cow, the official state drink is milk and the The words ‘America’s Dairyland’ are in the car numbers (American Dairy Land).

I chose the meaty Brooklyn Brothers (now Brooklyn Partners) pizza, and it was called Meat OMG, which is a clever name that all young people will understand, and for those who have yet to learn the second official Lithuanian language, English, I will translate it. That OMG is an abbreviation for “Oh my God”, and it means “oh God”. As the menu says, “there is a lot here: turkey meatballs, homemade Italian sausage, pepperoni sausage, three Italian cheeses: scallops, parmesan and mozzarella, and of course tomato basil sauce.” I like all their American names, not “Dukes”, “Bajorai” or “Vaidilučiai” – “Texas Cowboy”, “Yankee Burger” and other similar foreign beauties, which is time to get used to, because when there are more bases of the NATO and foreigners in Lithuania will want to communicate properly with all residents.

Meat OMG Pizza, the size of the association, which is 42 cm (exactly the same as the size of the family, which is a subtle hint that all families and all associations are equal), costs € 17. When I place an order through Wolt (I don’t take it to my house, but I say this, the director herself showed up this time to do the most beautiful photoshoot outside), I have a habit of taking Cheeky Cow (with ripped flesh and bacon) or Big Tony’s with fennel-anise-flavored sausage, and then I order all kinds of toppings to keep things small – there I have to double cheese, Italian sausage, bacon, and sometimes chicken, and even barbecue sauce, already times my pizza. it exceeds the € 30 limit, but that’s not a shame. I live as if I lived for the last time.

The pizza did not disappoint me in the least: it got hot, everything said was added, the pizza pieces were freely eaten with a folded hand and the taste passed through my ears, and the idea of showing the box of the rainbow to all. The Delphi readers and how beautiful and fun it would be for them took me to the clouds.

The Detroit Sisters Pizza was Detroit Signature Lamborghini, 35 x 25 cm (€ 16), and there was already a variant here that, even if you didn’t want to overcook the ingredients, it was already such that one of those pizzas would have been brave enough for six. people: Honey-sweetened pepperoni sausage with chili peppers, homemade tomato sauce, basil, and on top, creamy burrata for garnish, cheese made from mozzarella with cream and, I suspect, added after the pizza is baked, otherwise. The name is provocative because, furthermore, the Lamborghini is an Italian car, and it is not from Detroit at all, but the burrata is from Italy and everything is in order. The pad was genuinely fluffy; for those used to the thin and crunchy pad of Naples, it will be very unexpected, it is closer to what the Americans themselves call “pizza pie”, to the days when pizza was a strange foreign dish and needed to name “pizza pie”. pizza “for clarification. It is something reminiscent of a Lithuanian cake, only without sugar.

Of the sandwiches, I still really liked the sliced hot sausage, because I’m Lithuanian, and I only give Lithuanian sausages on any occasion and without opportunity, right? Salads are also not out of the way, although I tell you the truth, I did not eat salads and desserts (tiramisu) after the pizzas, it is no longer possible, I stayed for dinner.

Because there was a long delivery, and a lot, the order cost (with delivery) 86.90 EUR. I won’t give you a picture of the bill, firstly, because you don’t need to see my home address, and secondly, you still don’t think I’m paying for the food. And the STI sees those bills in its own way, and that’s good enough for me.

I delayed evaluating Brooklyn Brothers for a long time, maybe because I used to be constantly suspected of favoritism towards my friend Beata and her family, but now that they have such a nice association support initiative and they brought more Americans to Lithuania, that’s why contents. ., and for the herd, and for courage, five out of five geese.

Eat at American food, order lots of extras, treat your friends – there will be enough places and pizzas in Lithuania for everyone. If Vincas Kudirka were alive today, he would have added another verse to the National Anthem about the rainbow, families, and pizza.
